So after almost 5 years without an an actual computer I’m thinking about finally getting another one. The problem is that it’s been so long I have no clue what I should be looking for. I’ve actually given thought to getting something that’d be as close as possible to the 27” iMac I previously had.

A new Mac ia a good idea if you previous iMac no longer works (consider having it repaired) or if you no longer have it in your possession.

These are the current models available.

I no longer have it. I sold it back in 2014 and up until recently the funds haven’t been available to get another one.

So, if you now have these funds at your disposal, let us know your budget so that we can advise on a suitable Mac computer..

What is your budget ? Maybe u want to build yourself some PC with Windows 10 operating system. Some Intel or AMD Ryzne platform. Or if you like Mac, get some new one.

I’m not looking to spend an extraordinary amount. I’d like to stay between $2000 - $2500

At the end of 2017 I replaced my old Mac laptop with a newer one on eBay. I did my research and decided on a Mac Book Pro originally built in 2015. It was one of the last Mac laptops that still had all the common Mac connections like Firewire and USB. It also had the newest OS available in 2017 from which I was eligible for a free upgrade. It also still had a SuperDrive factory installed from which one can play and record CDs and DVDs. It's my understanding they no longer have Superdrives available on newer Mac laptops. I paid less than $400 for a mint machine. It's also my understanding that Apple still may sell this machine but you have to specifically ask for it. I went the way of a laptop for reasons that included traveling with it and an updated OS, Safari, mail program that my older Mac desktop unit is not eligible for.

If interested, look for the product number MD101/LLA 2012. This model was first configured in 2012 but was so popular they continued to build it into 2017. It may still be available to this day if you're only interested in a new one. I went the route for a used one and never looked back.
