I really just wish they would bring back other renegade time-lord "The Monk" character from the first Doctor's era. I honestly thought Tom Baker would be great int he role. Not only because he is familiar with the role of a time lord, but because in real life, he once studies to become an actual Monk. It would be a fitting role for him.

As for these creatures, they remind me of the Silence.

According to imdb.com the Daleks in the movie were bought by the show and used in a 1965 episode of the Doctor entitled "The Chase" before the movie even came out.

How can anyone not say "In the forest of the night" was not the worst? Get 10 kids, add a little Jumanji in the one of the busiest cities in the world, then add a reunion at the end that left everyone going ?????? Even if the Doctor was not on Earth what would have been different? Trees grown overnight along with being flame-retardant? Wow, a story written cause they needed to remind us Doctor Who is a kiddie show. Scary trees sure did did send a shiver up my back cause I thought they were trying to kill the show intentionally during that episode.

Actually, I seem to recall that Terry Nation received one of those when the filming was done. His heirs allowed the BBC to use it in "Asylum Of The Daleks". I may be thinking of another episode, but I'm fairly certain that that's the one.

I don't consider myself anywhere near an expert on Old Who before Tom Baker. Just reporting what another site has posted. Only three from the movie were used and only in background shots. The fact they were on TV before the movie even came out was my point.

I know, I've heard that tidbit before, but when I first saw that trivia bit years ago, it said they used some from the movie, except the "clawed" versions. I was just adding to what you were posting.

As for why no "claw" version was allowed, I don't really understand why. My best guess would be that maybe because the "Plunger" was iconic they didn't want to use something different for the series ???

And "The Chase", the one with the movie Dalek appearances, is also my fave of the 1st Doctor's serials.
It's got all sorts of interesting things going for it. Like, Daleks show that they can travel time. They have vessels that are larger on the inside then the outside. And to top that off, one of the Daleks risies up out of the sand and coughs. Which shows that they could over fly. And that at least one Dalek needs to remember to keep his windows up when diving into sand banks. It also showed that there were still living beings inside the shells..

Was I the only one who, at one point, thought that perhaps that Pyramid may in fact be a Tardis ???
It's just something that crossed my mind early on and then when Billie started talking about it possibly disguising itself, I thought of the chamelon circuit of a Tardis.
Of course, it turned out to be somethign else.
