How Many File Downloads at once?
I want to know how many files I can download at once, or how many files folks here download at once?
I ask this question because when I first started downloading files I would download 4 files at once all day and continue browsing and have many open threads and pages as well. My brand new modem, so it seemed, had to be replaced within a month. I haven't had a problem since then (1 1/2 years) and I try to only download 2 files at once sometimes 3. Do those that know believe that I just got a bad modem and 4 files at once is no big deal or that it is best to limit file downloads to 2 at the same time? (I didn't purchase the modem it was part of my service) |

I'm a free user of all filehosts and can have as many as 7 slow (200 kb/sec) downloads going at once with no problem browsing or operating a livestreaming cam. All using my ISP supplied modem.
Fast downloads using the likes of Zippyshare and Depositfiles (when I snag a Gold Key) at 5 MB/sec or more are done separately just as a precaution. Short answer: nobody can tell you how many files you can download at once and if they replaced your modem, it probably needed to be replaced |

There is actually no limit on the number of files you want to download simultaneously. It will basically just affect the speed of your download because all share the same bandwidth speed you have. As with your modem, it doesn't care. The lifespan of your modem has nothing to do with your download/upload activities.

Maybe ask your ISP if they are blocking certain sites as some ISPs do especially downloading ones or are you being traffic managed, or is their a service issue with your ISP.
Turn off your modem for 10 minutes then try again, or reset your modem it could be a config issue or an update by the ISP that requires a reset. |

That's usually set in your about:config in your browser.
You can set the number of connections. It's usually some number like 8 by default. When image host grabber used to work I used 32 because I had a fast connection.

However, he was concerned about his downloading causing the modem to fail. |
