Tidying up user account
Hello PS,
while travelling, I had to remedy some wifi connection issues. Following some how-to's found, I added new user accounts (so I think). OS is Windows 7. Under c:\Users, there are 3 write-protected folders now, one being the original one. Let's call it ALEX. A 2nd one ALEX.ALEX-COM and a 3rd ALEX-tr. To keep things tidy, I'd like to get rid of these additional folders and of course, my user account to be in original condition. As a remedy, I already considered to simply move all files from these additional folders to ALEX, but eventually skipped it as I wasn't sure if that would add further complications. However the system now seems to like ALEX.ALEX-COM better than ALEX as it added some new files to it, instead of ALEX. -> How can I get rid of these extra folders and how can I get my user account back into original state? Could somebody please guide me what to do. Cheers much.

By default, users don't have access to each others folders, unless they have administrative access or were given access. With administrative access, if your main account doesn't already have it, you can move files you need from the other folders to whereever you want them to have. You can delete the users you don't need/want anymore in the system settings. I wouldn't bother though, support for Windows 7 ended in 2020 and even the ESU program ended in 2023, if you even had it in the first place, which you probably didn't. It's a serious security concern, you need to get rid of it. |
