Hi all just wondered if I need to do anything to music files before I put them onto a cd.

Depends entirely on what your playing them on and what type of music file they are. If the files are mp3 format and you are planning to use the disc in an mp3 compatable player then just burn them to the cd and they will play no problem. It really does depend on the unit your planning to play the cd on as reguards other types of music files. Give a bit more info and we'll sort you out

Hi thanks for reply, not really anygood with computers. Downloaded some music some are mp3 some I dont know, I thought I could just download extract and then burn onto a disc for use on cd player.

Ok, like you said you're not very good with computer. And you want to play the songs on your cd player, which probably is not a mp3 compatable. Here's the easiest way to burn a music cd.

First insert a blank cd to your machine.

Then to make things easier for you, please move all songs you want to a specific folder. Please note all music cd have either limit of 700mb's or 80 or like so minutes (check cd).

Then select all music files (control + A or right mouse click + select all). And then make a right mouse click on a music file and select "Add to playlist" then a windows media player playlist thingie pops up, you select "new" and select a name for your playlist.

Then open your Windows Media Player (every PC has one) and select "Burn" tab there.

Then from the drop menu thing on right window select the newly created playlist.

And then just click the "Start Burn" icon.

Hello and thanks for the reply, Ive managed to burn music onto disc but when I try to play on anything other than computer it doesn't work. Is it because of the type of music file?

probably. when you are looking at your music in the folder before you burn it to a cd, check what file type it is. Personally, I use iTunes to rip and burn cds. you can get it from the apple web site. I think it's a lot easier to use then the widows stuff.

What I do, is import the files into iTunes (free program for MAC, Windows and Vista).
I then create a playlist from those files, insert a blank CD, and click the 'burn disk' button.

This will create a CD that will play on other computers and CD players.

If the files have no names (ie simply 'Track 1' 'Track 2' etc) you can give them their correct names in iTunes before burning the disk.
