browser mute
is there a way to "mute all" for a browser specifically w/o doing it to the whole PC? when i wanna play something in VLC, say, first i have to spend 20 mins hunting thru all my open tabs tryna track down which stupid popups are blurting noise at me.
i RARELY wanna play anything in situ. even youtube -- i generally DL the clips first then watch them locally. so i wouldn't mind turning browser mute more-or-less permanently. right now i leave entire PC muted the whole time i'm browsing. would rather not do this, however, since it stops me from playing LOCAL stuff. |

related question: is there also a way to mute ALARM BELLS specifically?
the bell for "no more --- found" when using ^F (both in browser or in notepad etc) drives me batty!! at the very least, can i turn it DOWN like 90%?! again, my short-term solution is to leave the ENTIRE PC muted when doing any searches. major overkill! |

I'm not sure if it varies by Windows Version, but try these:
Right click speaker icon. Open Volume Mixer. Lower Volume on selected browser under 'Applications.' Or System. Settings. Sounds. Advanced Sound Options.
