At times things like this are done purposely to start a dialogue and create buzz as the release date approaches... but yes dropping the ball happens frequently.

This one has bothered me since the first time I saw the film, the infamous air canister in Gladiator. During the film's Battle of Carthage sequence, one of the chariots gets flipped over and slides along the ground. As the dust begins to clear, a metal gas canister can be blatantly seen on the back of the carriage, and given that Gladiator is set in 180 AD, it's a device which wouldn't actually be invented for, say, only about another 1500 years.

Some mountains can be seen in the background that were probably forgotten during the post production of the movie.
These were only present in the early DVD versions of the movie. Not in the 2012 Remastered one.
I always wondered: how come there are some mountains in the middle of the ocean? LOL

They also erased the two woman on the top right. Unless they moved and the screen grabs are not in sync.

They started making this film in Dartmouth NS Canada before moving to the newly constructed sound lot in Rosarito, Mexico where a full scale ship was built. It was the most expensive film made at the time.

Of note, William and James Cameron were scheduled to dive the Marianas Trench. William passed away before seeing his dream realized. Ironically his death was related to an open water deep sea dive to 300 feet.

It's a curse that I can't watch a film these days without watching for errors. We specialize in "continuity" and are attracting a considerable amount of attention since doing some CGI Continuity on Black Widow earlier this year. It was originally scheduled for release last May, then November but was moved to May 2021 and that allowed us a window of opportunity. Now it has been pushed back to July in hope more theaters will reopen by then. It would still make a mint from vod although made for 200 million+, it needs to make at least 350 million to break even...

They moved. Hence why you can't see the 2 women on the top right in the 2nd screenshot.
There is also a slight camera shaking as well, right at the beginning of this scene.
One of the crew members bumped on his equipment. That was also removed in the 2012 version as well.

Regardless of these errors, Cameron went through a lot of trouble getting the movie produced and make sure that it was as accurate as possible.
He even got food poisoning as well, along with the cast and his crew. And Kate Winslet also got pneumonia, as well, shooting the in-water scenes.
So, Oscars deserved for my Canadian favorite dude

About the filming of the movie, I pretty much know almost anything, as I did watched a lot of behind-the-scenes with both Cameron as well with Landau, over the years.

Didn't knew about William's death, though.
I don't know what really happened, if he broke his oxygen supply or he got stuck on some rock down there.
But I know some people get decompression sickness after taking a plane the very same day they did deep dive (which is not recommended, according to doctors and the Aviation board).

moved or not, aren't they both grabs from the FIRST copy? i mean, the mountains are STILL THERE in the 2d pic, just further out of frame (look at the ladder).

Look at you go Sherlock. lol.

They are pretend icebergs, they can be any color they want to be. We were instructed to leave in 2 glaring mistakes while doing continuity on BW...

It won an Academy Award for cinematography as well, so if it was "missed", it was missed by a whole lot of people.

As for the editing, it was done by Conrad Buff who does most of Cameron's films including The Abyss, True Lies, T2 and a long list of impressive films, most recently Equalizer 2. He doesnt make mistakes, there is method to his madness here.

As for the diving, William died of a brain aneurysm complicated by decompression. It takes the better part of the day coming up from that depth. He was an avid diver but all bets are off at that world record depth.

I miss him every day. He and Jenny are probably besties up there lol.

We are fast getting a reputation as continuity specialists in both film and television after having done Black Widow earlier this year... we just got back from LA after setting up for another high profile film edit for next year's premiere, we did an episode of The Rookie with my bestie Tricia Helfer while there. It aired last Sunday.

With technology being what it is in today's age you don't have to be right there fix something which makes it easier for companies like mine that are located in Canada even though a lot of American productions are made in Canada which makes it easier to get us raw shots to "fix". It really isn't rocket science but some make it out to be especially if you have limited budgets... that's where we come in but little-known secret some mistakes are left in on purpose to start a conversation especially during trailers when a film or show is not out yet.

The longer a show runs the more likely it is to start making errors take Doctor Who for example it's been running forever and yet originally the doctor is pegged somewhere between five hundred years old and a thousand years old but in the newer version he's just over 900, the latter makes continuity that much more important to the discerning eye

Interestingly enough The Simpsons is the most flubbed show in the history of Television granted it's one of the longest running as well with over 2,100 flubs followed closely by friends which has over 1,500 including one so glaring as to put in Rachel's stunt double while Rachel was still in the shot. Or David Duchovny wearing a wedding ring in season 5 episode of The X-Files yet never have you mentioned anything about getting married although he did in real life at the time...

Yet for some it must be exhausting to just sit around and copy and paste movie trailers all day long thinking they're changing the world lol.

It's not a goof, but in the show "See" that is in its second season this year the actress Hera Hilmar plays a mother of two. Nesta Cooper who plays one of her kids in born in 1993.
Hilmar is only 5 years older and it's really noticeable.
The show is generally really, really good and this is only a minor issue. I ignored it during
the 1st season, but this season it became so visible. Like I was watching and asking myself
"how is she supposed to be these grown ass kids mother?". That's when I looked it up.

Angela Lansbury was only three years older than on-screen son Raymond Shaw in The Manchurian Candidate...

Although this one gets a pass due to the context Lea Thompson and Michael J Fox were the same age in Back to the Future

Impressed by your list I wanted to add "Scarlett Johansson and Rachel Weisz in Black Widow" but holy s, Weisz is 14 years older than her. Damn she's looking amazing. I know Hollywood makeup and de-aging software do impressive work, but I want to give that one to Weisz' natural grace.
