CAPTCHA : only Internet services could do something if they accept connection through Tor as normal, instead of "suspicious".
Speed : Yes it's possible (with 1-hop proxy) but not advised because what would be gained for speed would be lost for anonymity. Another option is to run a Tor server through the Gold Star and PAR system (Payment for Anonymous Routing), but don't know if it still works.
