Thinking about joining the industry
Hey guys,
I recently considered entering the adult film industry as a male talent and producer, based in the EU. Some of you might remember me from a few years ago when I uploaded a couple of VR remasters. This experience eventually led to a job as an editor in the industry for a north american company. Over the past few years, I've gained skills in color correction, video stitching, and audio manipulation. I found a stable main job, but I continue editing as a side hustle. I earn enough from my main job, so I’m not relying on adult film income—this is the professional side of me. On a more personal note, I have a healthy interest in adult content. I've regularly consumed porn and had some experiences with escorts over the years. Recently, I had an intense encounter with a sugar baby, which was thrilling but also made me uneasy about potential health risks. I'm planning to get tested, and if everything is fine, I won’t pursue that path again unless tested. I hadn’t seriously considered joining the industry until recently. With the rise of one-person shows like MrLuckyPOV and content sharing with creators on platforms like OnlyFans, I thought, "Why not?" I do have some concerns, though. First, I'm 39, and I wonder if it's too late to enter the scene. I’m still fit and healthy, so I think I can keep up—I'm well-endowed at 7 inches, in case that matters! Another hurdle is that I need to debut in front of a camera, and I'm working on that next. I’m also unsure if I want to reveal my face on camera. MrLuckyPOV mentioned that it’s not necessary, and I agree; my goal is to be a tool for women to create content. In Gonzo, POV, or VR styles, my face might not be that important. I’ve always thought about starting a business, and now I see an opportunity. While I do want to enjoy intimate experiences, I'm also interested in the business side and have some ideas for unique approaches. So, what do I need? - Income for expenses: Check. - Experience in producing: I’m getting there, but not fully there yet. - Connections: I currently work with a professional studio as an editor, but I don’t want to discuss this with them yet. I fear they might think I'm not serious and could cancel my work. - Female talent: This is the most crucial point. Without a reputation as a performer or producer, how can I gain the respect of other talents or agencies? - laws & contracts: Will get there once it becomes neccessary - Places/Studio: For now my plan is to book hotels near to agency/talents once I get in touch with them. Renting a place for an own studio is also a thing Im looking forward to. I have some ideas to stand out, but I can’t share them in detail. This thought has been on my mind for weeks, and I appreciate the chance to brainstorm and discuss it with the community here. PlanetSuzy is my go-to place when it comes to adult content! Best regards deak |

I have to ask (I'm not trying to dissuade you), have you thought about why someone should give you money for your porn?
There's a shitload of porn out there. There are tens, if not hundreds of new scenes shot and released EVERY DAY. Especially the kind of pro-am POV or static camera/no cameraman porn you are suggesting. What will make people want to give you their hard-earned money? What will you do differently? What will you do that nobody else is doing, or not doing well enough? If the answer is "showing hot girls" then please note there is already so much material out there it would take a lifetime to watch. Second point, it seems like you have an idea of the editing/technical side of the business. That is very good and useful. But unless you also have a decent grasp of the business side of the industry, you won't be able to get anywhere. I mean about setting up a website or using an existing platform (how much will these cost you, both upfront and on a continuing basis?). Then there is the fact that at the beginning nobody will have heard of your site. How you will use affiliate websites to drive subscribers to your site (affiliates sell subscriptions for $/€/£ 10-20, they take 50% of that, minus sales taxes, minus CC processing fees, you'll get to keep maybe 20-30% of that amount). How you will use promotional material on p0rnhub/twitter/etc. to drive up awareness of your site. And so on. Third point, I would very strongly recommend against casting yourself as male talent. Quite simply this will create a big conflict of interest for you. Will you hire the pornstars who will bring more business to your site, or the ones you personally want to fuck? When the camera is running will you do the things that the subscribers of your site want to watch, or the things that you enjoy doing? What if the subscribers get bored of seeing the same guy in every scene? And this is apart from the possible issues of showing your face or the results of having unprotected sex with people who have unprotected sex with many people who have unprotected sex with........ Fourth point, the legal stuff. For taxes etc an accountant will advise you. There is also some stuff specific to porn, consent sheets, documentation that everyone is over 18 etc. Ask several producers about this and follow whoever has the longest list of paperwork. Finally (of course this goes for any business not only porn) have you considered how much money you are willing and able to sink in this venture? Hopefully it will do well and it will make you money. However it is possible that it will loose money (especially at the beginning it is almost guaranteed to loose money, almost all businesses do). It is also possible that you don't really care about making money, and in fact you would be happy to pay a small amount of money every month in order to have fun with your hobby. But before doing anything ask yourself the hard questions and force yourself to give honest answers - how much can you afford to loose (per month and in total)? If losses become greater, will you have the discipline to pull the plug, or will you throw good money after bad? Many people loose their shirt on poorly thought business ventures, sex is something that makes many men loose their minds (another reason why I recommend not participating in your videos), and I really hope you don't belong in this category. Sorry if my message sounds pessimistic, it's not my intention. It's just better to think over the hard questions first, rather than get caught like a deer in the headlights if things don't go quite as you wished. |

It's perfectly fine for you to ask these kinds of questions. I appreciate them because I'm not overly optimistic by nature; I prefer to think things through carefully. Let’s address your questions: 1. While I won’t dive into the specifics of my idea, here are some general thoughts: There's an abundance of content out there, but people are always looking for something new. Even if I produce the same type of vanilla porn that’s already popular, it can still capture interest. I'm also aiming to venture into VR production. The VR industry has established a solid standard, but many established studios have moved away from experimentation to focus on efficiency. This creates space for new studios to innovate and meet the demand for fresh content. 2. Initially, I won’t even have my own website, despite being tech-savvy. As you mentioned, marketing and promotion require funding. My plan is to start with vendor sites. I’ll hire some known talents—not overly popular, but recognizable. I’ll engage with audiences through social media to build an 'underground' reputation. Once this is established, I can transition to platforms like OnlyFans or Fansly, and eventually launch my own site. The first couple of years will focus more on gaining visibility than on making profits. 3. I understand the implications of this venture, and while I won’t still be doing it in my 70s, I plan to start out on my own for fun and to save on costs associated with hiring male talents. As I grow, I won’t hesitate to hire male talents for specific roles, though I prefer to work with female talents. 4. gotcha! 5. I currently earn about €10,000-€12,000 per year as an editor. I anticipate that I might double my expenses from other income sources as I pursue this. I’m willing to invest up to €50,000 over 2 years. If it doesn’t pan out, at least I can say I tried, and I won’t have to live with the question of 'what if' later in life. And no, I’m not losing my mind over sex. |

Why would a pornstar want to work with you? How much are you planning on paying them? Why wouldn't they just fuck their boyfriend or some random dude POV style for their onlyfans? Brother you're ten years late to the party.

Why would a pornstar want to work with you? This is a question I often ask myself. At the beginning, without any clout, it seems that working with professional talent relies on money and a bit of luck. I believe collaborating with pros could help me get recognized as serious in this business. I’m looking for tips on how to achieve this first important milestone. Any advice on approaching an agency professionally would be appreciated! How much are you planning on paying them? From what I’ve read, European female talents typically charge between €500 and €1,000 per scene, excluding extras. Well-known talents earn around $1,500 per scene in US from the studios I edit for (confirmed). Why wouldn't they just film with their boyfriend or a random dude for their OnlyFans? Yeah, this sounds really pessimistic, but I will answer anyways: Maybe they’re single, recently broke up, or want to showcase their skills to an ex. They might have a partner but lack the equipment for VR content. Why choose a random guy when they can work with a 'professional' for better content? Maybe I am late to the Party but plans in life dont always work out. Ten years late to the Party when VR Train is rolling for like 8 years is just too pessimistic for me to cancel the idea based on your Reply Current Situation I’ve been feeling sick lately and need a few weeks to recover. Right now, I can only focus on theory. I want to connect with female talents. Ideally, I’d love to set up some initial shooting tryouts, but I’d also be grateful if any female talent could answer a few questions. I started asking out some talents on X if they are down to answer some questions. I’m considering subscribing to some lesser-known OnlyFans or Fansly talents to chat with them. Even if an agent handles the chats, they might still have insights to share. Maybe some of you have experience in messaging talents on socials and wether they are legit or money grab?! What do you think? Should I pursue a FAQ through OnlyFans or Fansly subscriptions? I also have the idea to go for an adult entertainment expo. Like AVN but I would prefer to go for something in europe. Any idea what is the next big expo in EU to network with talents/agencies?
