question about being blocked from a site,
I have a question thats not 100% computer related but i figured an opinion and help cant hurt, i have, well, i had an account on the dating website plenty of fish, its a very popular site for singles like myself, my problem is my profile gets deleted immediately, if any of you know when you make an account, they text you a code to prove your 'real'. im lucky to get to that page but after i type it in if it works i then go to my profile and i send myself a message and nothing, it doesnt work then it gets deleted after about 6 minutes. So far i have done the following,
1.cleared my files/temporary files 2.used a different email to join, so far i have made 2 on outlook, 1 on gmail' 3.used a different browser, since IE was getting nowhere i used Chrome, same results, i only got chrome for that website, once i found out it didnt work i deleted it. So im out of ideas, the only 'rule' on the site i can say i broke was i copied and pasted messages to some girls, which i assume everyone does but to ban me all together? seems extreme, esp when my profile had nothing sexual, nor did i have half naked pictures. I also looked on POF's site and this seems to happen to alot of profiles, theirs also no 'help' forum for that site, hense why im using this. lastly, im guessing the site blocked my ISP address, i do NOT use a vpn or anything, i use a standard cable modem from Comcast, no wifi and i dont share my computer, i live by myself. I could unplug my modem for 6-12 hours to 'renew' the IP address but i dont even know if that work? So, any help is appreciated, i can wait out untill they let me re- join, my last option would be to change my cell# for the verification, but that might be useless if they blocked my computer all together. |

Getting your account deleted like that seems like you may have violated their Terms Of Service (TOS). Read over it and see what might have transpired. You could try using a web browser such Epic Privacy Browser. It has a Proxy, so you can appear from another country. However, there is a 50/50 chance it wont work.

Sites like Plenty of Fish, OK Cupid, Mingle2, etc all make their money from spamming you with hookups so that you also join one of the hookup sites they own. They also run a protocol of your IP address and email address, in addition to using photo recognition software to any pic which you previously uploaded. Even if you delete your pic the software has recorded the image. Try using dating sites that are real. They may not be as popular but you will find that most of the women there are actually real. If you are looking for a hookup then google how to get a hookup verification certificate for free.

I agree. Use a real dating site/agency. My friend was on one of those popular dating sites - Match.c0m I believe. They kept matching him with nonexistent people - bots essentially. They steal people's images (as stated by Shylock) and then use the images as bots to lure unsuspecting people into thinking they hit the jackpot. Plenty of phishing. Screw that.

I agree that POF does have a lot of fakes, but i didnt pay for anything, i specifically used that site cause its 100% free to get and read messages id never , ever pay for that stuff. So thats why to me that stuck out, sites like eHarmony and match dont let you do anything without paying, thats also the only site like that i have ever used. Also like i said i didnt knowingly do anything other than copy paste messages, i didnt message 50 girls in 1 day asking for sex and stuff immediately, im glad its free, i can imagine how many people pay then get their profiles deleted, imagine not being able to get the money back.

my main issue is getting my ISP renewed, all i really know to do that is unplugging the modem for 6 hours or more, cause the site sees me signing in or trying to, its blocked immediately

A friend of mine, his sister got murdered by someone she met on POF. Along with three other people in her house. By the time this asshole got arrested the body count had risen to six. It can be said that it could have happened to anyone anywhere, and it was not the site's fault, and so on. And plenty of people meet on dating sites and don't get murdered, etc. I get that. But I would not touch POF with a ten foot pole, just on general principles.

Personally, I like being single. With pretty much everything in life there's two sides to every coin. You can find positives and negative to every scenario. Plus I realize that I'm a selfish, shallow asshole. I would need the perfect woman, one that could put up with me but at the same time not make me insane. That type of woman doesn't exist. @redsox1211 I would try a VPN if you can get a different IP from the country you're in. Unplugging your internet sounds like a pain in the ass. It doesn't sound like a surefire way either. Is there a way to get inside the modem to change your IP so it's not static? You might want to Youtube that.

I'm not saying you should pay for any of these services but it might be the reason why you can get any customer service. It might be behind a paywall. Just a thought. Something you might be able to Google.
