I have a task set up in Win 7 Task Scheduler to shut off my PC at a specified time. Sometimes it works, but sometimes it doesn't.

The task script is as follows:

C:\Windows\System32\shutdown.exe /s /f

To set the trigger date and time I always open Task Scheduler by right clicking its icon and selecting Run as administrator

Just wondering if anyone might have any ideas as to why it runs sometimes but not others?

Something could be interfering with the shut down process?

Windows does not shut down when it's downloading updates.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I don't think that could be the problem. I don't have Windows set to automatically DL updates. I always do it manually.

You could try a small program called PowerOff and see if it works

As it happens - I figured out what was going wrong last night. There's an option to Enable/Disable when setting the triggers. Normally it is Enabled by default - but I managed to deselect it without noticing.
