Help us help you! A brief tutorial on the info we need to help you.
Questions About a Computer?
Hello computer user. It seems you've arrived here because you've asked a question of the people on this forum about some type of computer problem. We're happy to help if we can but due to the nature of the problem, we need additional information. Please remember that this forum (nor any of the people responding to your question) are responsible for any negative effects of our advice. There are many reasons for this but please remember, we are not sitting in front of your machine. We cannot physically see or touch it. Something you may believe is software related could actually be a hardware problem (or vice versa). Our responses are totally reliant on how well you phrase your question(s). Regarding the info we need; This will more than likely be different depending on the nature of your problem(s) and question(s). Basic Info We Need (all questioners should provide this info): Computer manufacturer: Specific Model Number: Operating System (OS): OS Version: There are a lot of other questions we may have for you depending on the problem. So please be prepared to offer such information as: Express Service Code or Service Tag (or whatever your manufacturer calls this): Amount of RAM: Type of hard drive and size: Model Number of video card (if you have one): Don't be afraid to use Google, Youtube, the website where you bought the computer. You might be able to see a review of a person describing your same issue with the computer. They might have a solution posted. There are also more tech driven forums out there and the people on them might be more computer savvy. Code:
techguy.org At least for now, I think that is enough. But please be prepared to provide any information we request. Help us help you! If you are someone offering help to another member, please keep in mind that bragging about how awesome and powerful your computer is, helps to no one. Keep the subject matter on target! Members ignoring this may have their post(s) removed! **Remember - use ANY advice given at your own risk!** Thank you and good luck!
