Problems with Power Options, Battery and Brightness Level
I know it's a long Title, but since I got my Laptop fixed the guy who fixed it put in all the latest Windows 10 Updates when he had to wipe the slate clean with my Laptop. Now yesterday my Charger fell out of the HP Laptop, and it's a Replacement Battery, but for some reason I think it's the newest Updates to where when I put my Charger in my Brightness Levels for my Laptop doesn't change. Rather it's still looks like it would without The Charger plugged in and it just happened today. Now I know I can manually up the Brightness Levels, but my Laptop had it set before even till yesterday to put the Brightness Levels at it's Highest on the Charger. Does anyone know what I can do to fix the problem outside of me System Restoring it?

Dumb question... since you mentioned it in the thread title, did you check your power options, especially any "high performance" plans?
Also, though it's only a minor thing, and you also mentioned that in the post, I might check the various ways to adjust your brightness: 1. On my laptop, there's a slider at the bottom of the notifications panel, accessible at the bottom right of the taskbar. 2. F11/F12 keys (DO NOT press the Fn key) 3. Windows key -> type "brightness". Check to make sure it's where you want it set... and, is the same as other settings you check along the way (see below). 4. Make sure you have no filters or "night lights" on. 5. Check your battery saver settings to make sure they're not engaged until the battery drops below a certain percentage. 6. If all else fails, you might try updating/reinstallling your display driver (?) - just a guess. (Also, keep an eye on where you set the brightness... for example, if you set it at 50%, and you go through various way to adjust brightness, but one of them says, like, 30%, then it's matter of an incorrect setting, and it a mechanical issue. That would be good news, as it's easily fixed.) Someone else probably knows more about this, but I don't think a system restore would address your issue. I've never known a Windows Update to affect brightness levels. To be honest, this sounds like a settings issue... if it was mechanical, it seems your display would not work at all... or at least your brightness levels would be the least of your concerns. One other thing you mentioned.... when you plug your charger in, is the battery actually charging? If none of this works, you might want to Google the issue and see if someone else has experienced this before.

Yeah it's charging my Laptop and I can get to the High Performance Plan through The Mobility Center for Windows, but let's say I take out the Charger it doesn't dim at all. Like I said this wasn't a problem till my Replacement Charger came out. Here I took some pics of what I'm seeing right now.
I wonder if it's a Driver Issue with the Battery through Device Manager. |

I've just plugged my Windows 10 ultrabook in, I can't find any 'brightness' settings in those screens. I always believe 'dimming on battery' was just the 'default setting' of a laptop.

Do you still have the old charger? If so, double check the specs on each, and see if they're identical. Starting to think the replacement charger might be underpowering the laptop?

Well I never had a problem with the Replacement Battery or Charger till yesterday. Before my Screen was replaced I would charge up my Laptop and it would light up with no problems. Now it lights up and it stays at the Brightness Level. If I use the old Battery I'll have to use my Charger really fast because the Laptop can't be without charging with the old Battery no more than 5 mins.

You said the charger "fell out"... is that implying something may have broke in the process?
It seems as though the charging circuit would be responsible for screen dimming and/or brightening while charging.

Yeah the Battery fell out and it seems like I might need to take it back to the Tech Guy and see what happened. Lucky I have the dough to fix it, but seeing as though this Frankenstein Laptop of mines is giving me problems back to back now it might be just smart just to buy a new HP Laptop. I already put nearly 200 bucks into fixing it between the new Screen and Keyboard this Week.

Why didn't you mention that earlier? It looks like a driver issue. The new screen doesn't quite match what the system expects.

You're probably missing also the manufacturer pre-installed power options settings software/drivers as well.
My 2 Sony VAIO laptops have a specific proprietary driver for the power/brightness settings that, if it is not installed, it won't let me change anything. You should probably check out the manufacturer website for any additional drivers or software.
