Large Files in PATM HD Section

I almost always download the 1080p version of the scenes I want but find any file bigger than 2GB is more likely to fail to complete than smaller ones at the typical free user's download speed from all of the PATM Required Filehosts.

Recently I've noticed scenes of 3GB, 4GB and more being posted with just a single link in PATM and suggest a change in the rules might be needed.

See THIS POST* to show what I mean. The posting of FileBoom, Filejoker and Keep2Share single links means nobody else can post that scene using those filehosts with split files.

Having posted in PATM, I'm well aware that there are already a lot of rules to fall foul of but maybe in cases like this the posting of split files using previously posted filehosts should be allowed without any time restriction. By the same token, a member wishing to post single links should be able to use filehosts already posted with split links.

I believe this fits in with this site's 'free user friendly' philosophy which has been the standard for so many years.

This would enable more members to download scenes as free users that they might otherwise pass on or desert PlanetSuzy for inferior sites to find split links.


* Note: I'm not taking a pop at this particular long standing member as he's not the only uploader posting such large 'free user unfriendly' links - just showing one of his posts as an example.

When it comes to large single files, I only download from torrentsites.

It take tooooo long time to download with speed 200 kb/s

Your example files should take aprox 5 hours for 1 single file in free-mode, think about an 4K-file....

Today I have premium at k2s and fileboom and I have no problem to download large files in premium-mode, but I know what you want to say about your post.

If you split files in many small part, it's not faster but hopefully no fails with the downloads.

Maybe there could be a rule requiring any file over a certain size be split into multiple parts.

My biggest problem with hosts is the filejoker !

I hate this host...why ?

Becuase it doesnt let you resume..while most and many others let you resume the files..

for example k2s is slow too (50kb/sec) but i can resume. I can let the pc open and let it download for 24 hours or stop and continue later..It s not a problem

but filejoker is very stupid..

for example, i try to download a single 3gb file it gives me 36 hours with 20 kb/sec..In the middle of the downlaod like 2 gb completed, it says "free user download is full"

@Lando Griffin And maybe set a maximum for split files at say 1.5GB or 2 GB?

A 2GB file takes around 5 hours with K2S and FileBoom as a free user and maybe 6.5 hours with Filejoker and I can live with that. I'm a confirmed, die-hard free user like many members here.

One thing you might try is a download application such as JDownloader.

Another thing to consider is that there might not be much benefit in downloading the highest resolution. Even though I have a laptop with a 2880 x 1800 display, and a 4K television, when downloading from PATM HD, I generally prefer 1280 X 720 because there is very little if any improvement in quality, and the files take up less room on my hard drives.

Regardless, this forum wants its members to be able to download whatever is posted for free. So this is an important issue. I'm going to think about it, and then bring it up with the PATM staff.

I have the same problem and I simply stopped to download files from here simpy because I'm unable to donwload them. I use JD2 and I can't resume, and the only way to don't lost the connection is to don't use any p2p in the meantime, each time it restarts from zero in a infinite loop. I'm really sorry because this was my favourite board. But after the policy change is impossible for me to download from K2S or FB. FJ for free user has never been an alternative, only very few users use DepositFiles or FileFactory, almost nobody 1fichier or mega that are good for free users. So, I'm really sorry but at this time for me is impossible to download any file bigger than 400Mb here

I don't know which router you use, but some routers have bad cache and ram memory and can't handle too much at same time and of course it would be problems meantime you download files.

Enforcing split files rules for certain file sizes may solve it for some people to be able to download the file but you can be sure there will be new users coming out of the bushes with other problems.

Some hosts limit how many files you can download per day / 24h / whatever (as free user) it may be and that is going to bring up other issues for sure.

What happens if a big file is split into 4 parts and you manage to get 2-3 parts in 1 day and the next day links died .... or you get 2 of 3 links and 3rd link times out somehow and your download limits as free user is already used.

As an uploader I will not post scenes here where I am forced to split the file into x amount of pieces, I will simply just skip that scene here and post the ones within the 1 file limit. (that is not meant as any kind of threat).

The time it takes to make posts and upload them and also having to rar them is just too much for many uploaders.

I will respect the free user max size limits set by the filehosts ofcourse.

Planetsuzy already have rules for minimum file size while splitting and I think enforcing max size for splitting is just a bit too much and somehow contradicts the min. size split rule
