So this seems to be an recurring problem that I've been experiencing whenever I record videos via vlc player. When the video records to a certain length, I wanna say about 58-59mins, I can't just click on the play bar and jump right to the time passed that mark or even properly use the function of click an seek as it will just be a pause/freeze, however just playing through the long way is okay. Windows media player cant get seek passed the 22min mark while using vlc can't click/seek passed 58mins. any ideas what causes these kind of playback issues with big video files?

VLC isn't properly recording (ie: encoding) the files properly. The ability to seek is based on the file encoding (keyframes I believe).

Some players are better at seeking than others, so you could try a different player.

But as VLC isn't creating proper video files, I'd switch to another tool for recording. You can try updating VLC if a newer version is available, otherwise a new tool is the best option. I use Replay Media Catcher 7 (not free).
