In the midst of the Walking Dead slowly getting to the end of its season, which still will not see a conclusion to the Negan storyline I suppose...AMC has got a gem going on with this The Terror show.

It's based upon the 2007 novel of the same name, which was a fictionalized version of Sir John Franklin's doomed expedition in 1840's to find the Northwest Passage in the Arctic.

I have watched episode 1-3 and have episode 4 and 5 to watch.

Strange that 4 and 5 were available on tor**** when they haven't been broadcast.

So far it's okay. Not as scary and suspenseful as it should be. Too much talking and in fighting politics between the officers of the 2 ships and the crew themselves.

This is a great show.

Reuniting Ciaran Hinds and Tobias Menzies, respectively the men who played Caesar and Brutus on "Rome".

I've seen it being sold as horror-ish on horror sites; but my first few minutes of the pilot made me think its a character drama with the horror being the setting of isolation and the unknown that they are venturing into.

Which leads to my question:

Does it start picking up pace horror-wise in the episodes after the pilot?

I think the best equivalent would be something like "The Thing" or "Alien".
But set in the Arctic in the middle of the 19th century.
And with a more supernatural instead of alien slant to the threat.

Like I said so far I've seen Episode 1, 2, and 3 and it's been slow.

Too much talking and character development and the few times the "Bear" has appeared, you get a one second very fast camera movement glimpse off it.

Also a lot of flashback scenes for the character development to build up things like why the Captain of each ship are always in disagreement.
