Tom Cruise in Mummy sequel
I enjoyed this franchise albeit I was a bit disappointed Rachel Weisz didn't appear in the 3rd film.

They were offbeat and lighthearted and fun! There was a 4th film planned but when the 3rd film didn't do so well at the box office after bringing in only about $401 million including US and Worldwide gross. I've heard of talks the last 8 years of rebooting this franchise and I was looking forward to it until today when I just now found out it will star the crazy person! How dare they take one of the greatest songs ever written by The Rolling Stones and associate it with this junk? So what's this supposed to be? Ethan Hunt leaves the IMF, goes freelance and becomes a Lara Croft wannabe? |

Actually Universal is gonna reboot their famous monsters from the 30s-50s and tie them all together in a franchise like Marvel or DCs superheroes. Supposedly there are big budget versions of Dracula, Frankenstein, the Wolfman and maybe 1-2 more that are all gonna be in the same "universe" with some crossover continuity involved.

Only thing that changes is the computer generated effects get more elaborate and suck out more of the budget and the humanity. The actual story doesn't change. It all should have ended after Abbott and Costello did the dance. |

I will say this.... never count Tom Cruise out. Regardless of his spiritual beliefs he puts out some damn good movies and gives 100% in every one of them. So I will wait and see the movie before I trash it.

Personally as a huge horror fan I really am hoping for the best, despite Cruise's involvement. As much as I might dislike his worldview, his being involved should help make the shared universe goal that much more possible. |

I think toms best role was in south park as the fudge packer.
It was really funny how south park spent years taking the piss out every religion but as soon as they touched scientology Issac Hays quit the show. Apparently they don't believe the other religions deserve any respect. |

From AICN (Aint It Cool News):
Hey folks, Harry here... Screenwriter Will Beall fingers must be permanently puckered after the 1-2 writing underwater for first AQUAMAN for James Wan, and now the assignment to get CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON ready for Universal's big run at a cohesive Horror World. Ok - so we've all seen that MUMMY trailer - and thinking about a writer who's turned in an Aquaman script that has Great Whites in Armor pulling chariots with Atlantean Warriors aboard... what manner of wild craziness are they going to do here? Will the infamous Gillman have a lost undersea world that beings of his kind have built? Will the creature need a new bride? What's the amazonian native legends in this new world? Will Tom Cruise now have to go deal with him after dealing with swimming Mummies... and - what does happen to a dehydrated mummy while swimming? There's no details about production on this, at this point, mainly because for as long as I've been doing AICN, CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON has been in development. Even before that. John Carpenter, Breck Eisner & Gary Ross have all given it an attempt, but the powers that be just have no real feel for what they want. Let's see if the Creature makes it to the finish line this time! |

And I seriously try not to think about the guy's religion or his political beliefs but it's hard not to think about it at times. |

Never mind if the movie plot is ridiculous, the stunts are unbelievable and the film has no socially redeeming qualities.
Tom Cruise is in the ENTERTAINMENT business and I have yet to see a movie of his that is not Entertaining. Critics seem to forget that basic "raison d'etre". I suggest that is why he is so successful. |
