i understand the idea of not having hotlinks to other sites, but when active content is embedded here, isn't that the same thing?

for example, i know links to youtube are prohibited. but no one has a problem with embedding said URLs on pages here, such that the videos play in place here. generally after CLICKING ON THEM to get them started....

wassa diff? if "catplayingpianoURL" is bad sitting on a link, how is it any better sitting underneath an image which itself sits atop the same link?? seems to me u click on "play" u are essentially "linking" to the other site, same as if u had followed a standard hyperlink.

YouTube videos must be embedded so that the mods and members can see what it is without having to click on it. YouTube links are not descriptive. They are just a bunch of letters. For example, this link

To embed a YouTube video, copy the straight link (not a "share") code, and paste it into your post.

Then remove the letter S from httpS, and make your post.
