Anyone Know A Good DVD Ripping Program?
I have this one called #1 DVD Ripper and by all means, its a piece of shit. It rips everything with skips, jumps and even the audio is WAYYY off. Does anyone know of any free programs (or unfree - I have connections) that are decent and do the job right?

"Dvd decrypter" (free) does a good job , if the DVD does not have copy protection
If it has copy protection , you also need "AnyDVD" (pay)

By dvd ripper, I'm assuming that you are wanting something that will convert your dvd's to avi format? If not, I'll be answering the wrong question. Anyway, I always recommend FairUse Wizard to rip and convert dvd's to avi's. I have used it for about 3 years and have never had a problem with it. I liked it enough that I went from the free version to the premium version just to get the extra features. FairUse will run against either dvds or ISO images of dvd's; it won't run against VOB's, MPG's, etc.
I also use DVDDecrypter, but I use that only to create ISO files of my dvd's. I then point FairUse Wizard at those ISO files; DVDDecrypter rips the dvd quicker than FairUse's first step (the ripping). Plus, DVDDecrypter will defeat the copy protection on the dvd. I also have AnyDVD (and have had it since it first came out), so I eliminate copy protection with it, as well. I don't plan on duplicating all these functions; sometimes it just works out that way. If you want to copy a dvd (and leave it in dvd format), DVD Shrink is great. I use to use it all the time, but I haven't made an actual dvd copy in a couple of years. No need to, as I play avi's on my DivX-certified DVD player. There are probably a number of good ripping programs nowadays that I've never tried; I like FairUse Wizard so much that I haven't found a need to try anything else. I'm sure other members will mention some of those programs. |

Hey, bigfatbob answered my question via PM. For FairUse to work the ISO file must reside in a VIDEO_TS folder. Thanks!
