I have some torrent files which I downloaded with BitTorrent and am now seeding. I need to clean up my hard drive. So I would like to move the torrent files to a memory stick or a portable hard drive, then put them back where they were so I can start seeding again. If I move the files back to the folder I originally downloaded them to will BitTorrent start seeding again? Thanks.

whyt you mean, the .torrent files or actual DLed files? if files then stop seeding before you do the move. then if ythe file is at the original location (drive/folder) then star seeding again. if you mean .torrent files then it depends on the program you use

Thanks. I meant the downloaded files are the ones I want to move, then return then start seeding again.

I think you can move them with no problem.You might have to do a force restart on the files however.

You can re-download the torrent as a new download and allow for the file(s) to start downloading like normal for a minute or so - then stop the download, enter the incomplete folder - and replace/overwrite with the folder or file which you've backed up - then force a re-check to restore how it was.

Another way is to place the file or folder into the incomplete folder - then to download the torrent again from the original link - which should re-check and automatically reseed - as before.

Make sure the file/folder names are the same as when you downloaded them.

Absolutely. Just make sure the file is named exactly they way you downloaded it. (1) Move it to Download folder you use for files (2) Add torrent again (3) Torrent software will automatically rehash (check) file (4) Software will start seeding.

If you have the download in the client (even as seed or stopped) you do not have to re-add the download again. Just stop and then star the file again.

You may be able to change the directory (memory stick) in which the files are downloaded to that way when you have your memory stick on, your torrent client will see the fiels and allow them to be seeded. you may however only want to seed a couple of times and let others take over from there. You don't want your ISP to limit your bandwidth for seeding.

As long as your torrent client's files are not changed it should be fine.
