m8 normally an iso file is a file that got a complete copy of a original dvdr or a bdr so if your not sure about this iso file you got first mount it and know what that file got i normally use magic disc to do this and if you're new to this whole image mounting thingy then visit this link for a lil tutorial so if it's a complete dvdr then you can use kmp or vlc or any player to play it no need convert but if you still need to convert then use format factory to convert it

An ISO image (International Organization for Standardization) is an archive file (also known as a disk image) of an optical disc.
You can use WinRAR to open the file and view its contents/extract or whatever. Alternatively, you could create a virtual DVD drive and mount the ISO file on the virtual drive using daemon tools or an equivalent program.

As evilmonkey said - use WinRar to extract. If the Iso was for a DVD then you will probably find the video files are in VOB format. You will then need to find a program that can convert .vob to .mkv - sorry I can't help with that.
One other little wrinkle. VOB are a type of mpeg file and some programs wont open them. If that happens try changing the file extension from .vob to .mpg and see what happens. Good luck. |

Do you have WinRAR installed in your PC? If you have it, simply right click on the ISO file and Choose Open With -- WinRAR.
As Pad mentioned in his post, if this image file is from a DVD, it must have the VOB files. Find those files and extract them to your hard drive. You can do all of this using WinRAR. There are many ways to proceed but I will give you the easiest solution. Note that there will be some loss of quality when you convert VOB to MKV using my suggested method. You can do lossless conversion of VOB to MKV in command line using FFMPEG but I won't suggest that to you right now. Download and install Avidemux. Code:

Code:
http://fixounet.free.fr/avidemux/download.html To determine the operating system bit count Click Start button Type system in the Start Search box, and then click system in the Programs list. The operating system is displayed as follows: For a 64-bit version operating system, 64-bit Operating System appears for the System type under System. For a 32-bit version operating system, 32-bit Operating System appears for the System type under System. Hope this helps. I can't help you with the unusable data you're getting from the ISO file. Avidemux will be of any use to you only if you have the VOB file. See tutorials and guides section in the wiki link below. Code:

First step, extract the content of the .iso
Here's a tutorial for a .iso (image disk) of a windows installation disk, should work the same for a .iso of any DVD. Now, once you're done, you'll have to locate the .vob files (it's the video track, something like VIDEO_TS.VOB in VIDEO_TS FOLDER) in the files you've extracted like in the tutorial above. VLC can play .vob Now, if you want to convert .vob to avi or any other format, and don't know how to do it... Well, it's an other story. First, you have to extract the .vob files.... Good luck. |
