Burning Locked AVI to DVD
I recently downloaded a couple of .avi files. They play just fine in Windows Media Player however I cant get them to burn to DVD. In fact I cant open these files in any video editing software that I have tried. This includes Roxio MyDVD, Window DVD Maker, Virtualdub and Avidmux. Roxio gives the following error message
Anyone out there have any ideas as to how I can unlock these files so that I can burn them to DVD or am I just wasting my time trying to find a solution. |

The file may be a "read only" file.
Other than that, I haven't a clue. I'm assuming you're using a pc. My terminology may differ from Win-speak. |

Maybe they are digitally locked (licensed). I'd appreciate to get a hint how to break such a lock, as I've paid and d/led a file "to my own" and can't recode it. I think that's tricky but not quite correct.

If it's not a lock, they maybe encoded incorrectly. Some burners like Nero may refuse such files without a message. In this case I'd reencode them with TMPGEnc for example. If nothing helps, convert them to mpeg, demux and mux again to synchronize video and sound (TMPGEnc MPEG-Tools). |

If you would kindly send me these files, I'd be more than happy to look at them, I find it curious that the app you are using cannot do the job. However, as an aside it may well be something like ONES may be your answer. Or perhaps, FairUse. Let's see what we can do. MDI |
