Best Video format?

Do you guys like watching movies/porn in flv files or other files?

I've been working on a database which contains mostly flv files, but should I consider other and different extensions?

AVI is my favourite followed by MPEG. I don't Like WMV because as a MAC user i have to use software that takes a while to load up the whole movie.
All my FLVs I got from tube style site, and the quality is quite low.

mkv is the best container format

I like .mp4 because its higher quality but .avi is not bad either.

Agreed. MP4 is my preference. Compression rate for MP4 is unique that you could compress a 25 minute video into a file less than 100 mb's , that's why it's used by many media networks. Try doing that with MKV, which until now is rarely played on physical stand-alone DVD players. Avi will never die though. It's the most generally used format.

Imho, flv is the worst.

While I'm no expert, Audio Video Interleave is just a container format, it's not a data format. An AVI file can contain data compressed using a number of different codecs, including MPEG and WMV.

I also agree about WMV. Not only are the Microsoft codecs for WMV proprietary, requiring third-party reverse engineering for other platforms, but it's not even one codec.

Actually, Handbrake and some other players/converters have recently dropped support for AVI.

I would have no idea, because I don't think I've ever downloaded anything in that format.

I like MP4 too, and for the reasons you mention, but have found that not all PC users are able to view the files and have been asked more than once if I can reload them as a different format.
