She was supposed to start her freshman year of high school. Instead, she started her journey as a teenage stripper.

Last year, "Rebecca" ran away from home and soon became desperate for fast cash. At the age of 15, she started stripping at several clubs that make up Houston's sprawling sex trade.

"I didn't like it. Every time I would go on the stage, I would close my eyes,” the teen said. “I'm not comfortable. I never in my mind thought I would do something like that.”

Rebecca counts five strip clubs that hired her to perform, even though she told them she had no identification. That doesn't surprise the girl's recovery coach, Kathryn Griffin.

"You hear it everywhere, and amazingly enough you get to be 17 or 18 years old and you've aged out,” Griffin said. “The younger they are the more money they bring in."

Strip clubs can be a gateway into prostitution and human trafficking. Rebecca said soon after she ran away, she was approached by men wanting to sell her for sex.

"He was trying to lure me into his business because he was a pimp,” she said. “He was like, I can make a lot of money off you, show you off and all that."

She fears a life of sexual slavery was right around the corner had she not been arrested by an undercover officer.

"Thank God the day the cops came in and got me because if I stayed longer, that probably would have happened to me. That's not the life I want. I don't want to go down the same path. I don't want to make those mistakes."

Meanwhile, the money she made was too good to quit by herself.

1. Why did she run away from home? If her problems there were bad, then why did she not seek help from the many organisations out there that help people like her, instead of just hitting the streets with no means of support?

2. She could have begged for money-even busked, also at any time she could have presented herself at a police station, or a refufge & secured help. No, instead she decides she will go to work in strip clubs.

3. Maybe the strip clubs didn't check for id, but it seems unlikely as that sort of thing will usually see you out of business & in jail if caught. More likely scenario is she faked an id & looks 18 or older-especially made-up.

4. Strippers are aged out at 17 or 18? Really? Because most of the porn stars make a very nice wad of cash stripping-Lisa Ann is still doing it in her forties & making good money-more nonsense from your typical Lubben, blame my problems on everybody else, got into drugs & prostitutuon & Jesus saved me type & lo & behold a search of her name leads you to-

After pursing a career in the music industry, working with artists such as Rick James, George Clinton, Surface and many others, Kathryn began abusing drugs. Eventually, her $30,000 a month addiction led to her involvement in prostitution in order to finance her habit.

Kathryn entered a recovery center in 1986 and in 2003 she was approved to be one of the first to participate in the Harris County Star Drug Court. To date, Kathryn continues to work tirelessly on behalf of women trapped in destructive patterns of addiction and the habit-forming cycle of prostitution.

5. Newsflash-girl on the street dressed like a hooker because she strips is approached by pimps wanting to pimp her out.

6. A life of sexual slavery was right around the corner-ok, so she worked in multiple strip clubs & they paid her to strip & did not lock her up, or detain her in any manner & she was approached by pimps who she said no to & they accepted it-they did not abduct her, lock her in a basement & invite punters round to force themselves on her. So how exactly was it right around the corner?

7. It would be interesting to know exactly how she was arrested-was it at a strip joint where the police officer somehow managed to identify her as being underage? Was it a bust where they checked girls ids-the very reason clubs tend to make sure who they are using? Was she caught buying drugs? Was she offering herself out for sex?

Of course with this vague story, written from a totally biased perspective, with more holes than Swiss cheese in it, that falls apart at the slightest rational look at it we will never know the answer.

During my lifetime in high school, I knew of Freshmen women who were pregnant. I saw a lot of pregnant women in my time there. So to think it couldn't be worse by my knowledge, I read this. I'm actually inclined to agree with pimpmygoogly. I can't feel bad for this woman: running away being the first death knell of any sympathy for her. If anything, it seems to be an example of bad decisions made on a teenager's part.

It wouldn't surprise me if this little brat just made up the whole "I was scared to quit" BS just because the police DID come. How convenient.

Or like a thrice divorced woman promoting her new book about marriage success..

hey, werent we juniors together a couple years?

regarding the girls, regardless of what they say, the easy money is too hard to give up. if the girls worked it right, they can go to school in the day and work at night. Its not rocket science. but they soon realize they can make in a night what it would take a week or more in RL. And the easy money wins over school in 99% of the cases. Short term gain, long term loss. But at a teenagers maturity, its hard to accept.

I have seen several girls make plans, stick to them, and eventually get out. but they are not the norm.
