Toys R Us pulls 'Breaking Bad' dolls
By ANNE D'INNOCENZIO
From Associated Press October 22, 2014 NEW YORK (AP) — Toys R Us is pulling its four collectible dolls based on characters from AMC's hit series "Breaking Bad" after taking heat from a Florida mom who launched a petition campaign last week. The dolls are based on the series about Walter White, a high school chemistry teacher who turns into a crystal meth dealer, and his sidekick Jesse Pinkman. The figures have a detachable bag of cash and a bag of methamphetamines. Toys R Us, which is based in Wayne, New Jersey, told The Associated Press late Tuesday that the dolls are being removed immediately from its website and shelves. "Let's just say, the action figures have taken an indefinite sabbatical," Toys R Us said in a statement. The retailer had maintained that the figures were sold in limited quantities in the adult-action-figure area of its stores. The Fort Myers, Florida, mom, identified by news media as Susan Schrivjer, launched a petition on change.org last week, demanding that Toys R Us immediately stop selling the dolls. The mom, who wrote the petition under the name Susan Myers, said that the dolls are a "dangerous deviation from their family friendly values." "While the show may be compelling viewing for adults, its violent content and celebration of the drug trade make this collection unsuitable to be sold alongside Barbie dolls and Disney characters," she wrote. As of Tuesday, the petition had 8,000 signatures. On Monday, Bryan Cranston, the actor who played White, responded to the controversy, tweeting, "I'm so mad. I am burning my Florida mom action figure in protest." The debate has also spurred die-hard adult figure collectors to rally behind Toys R US. Daniel Pickett, of Manhattan Beach, California, launched a petition on change.org in favor of the toy seller keeping the dolls. So far, it has collected nearly 3,000 signatures. "I'm a parent of a school aged child myself, but I'm an informed, responsible parent and I closely monitor the toys, TV, music, movies and games that my daughter sees," Pickett wrote. "That's my job, and I take it seriously. But I also like toys/action figures and I want 3-D representations of characters from my favorite properties and I love being able to walk into a store and find them." __________ |

They are taking no chances since there are stupid parents in this world that leave marijuana snacks out when they have kids. It's a shame.

"celebration of the drug trade"
Really? Because I hardly think having to deal with complete psychos like Tuco, and the eventual fates of nearly everyone involved with Walt and Jesse - including themselves - are hardly a 'celebration'. |

And Disney is okay?

Disney gives girls unrealistic expectations of what a man should be which accounts for all the broken relationships and failed marriages. Disney animated movies are always about a homely girl meeting her dream prince and what do you think the prince has in mind for her? Porking! Nothing else. It's so obvious in every animated film from Cinderella to Beauty and the Beast to Sleeping Beauty to Little Mermaid, it's absurd it would even get a PG or G rating. But girls grow up to think the prince they find is going to sweep them off their feet, put them on the pedestal, treat them like loyalty and princesses and noooo, they can't have sex with them because they are supposed to be princes and princes are gentlemen not interested in sex. Once the sex comes into the relationship, the girls' entire expectations are shattered and they feel used and violated thus why so many girls break up with guys once they had sex. Also look at Disney's portrait of their squeaky clean teen actresses and Mickey Mouse Club girls: Britney Spears, Miley Cyrus, Christina Aguilera, etc, etc. Look how they went from clean and every girls' role model to sluts and tramps. Disney is not instilling a healthy realistic normal portrayal and attitude in girls about sex and love and relationship. Barbie dolls are also not okay. Do you know how many girls try to emulate Barbie's unrealistic figure by throwing up and not eating and some even died or committed suicide? If Barbie was real, she would be this: http://chapman.edu/students/heal...rbie-facts.pdf |

"Breaking Bad" was about a man's descent into Hell. He went from life's victim to drug kingpin/murderer. The show was all about "choices" and the ramifications thereof.
It was a series for Adults and the "action figures" were more than likely designed as being keepsakes for adults. It's sad that some folks cannot see past the "toy' aspect and would deny others the choice to purchase what they want. |

There is always a housewife or religious woman somewhere with too much time on her hands that wants to complain and get offended and decides they have the right to decide for the rest of us on what we should watch or not watch because after all, they are on a mission for God.

I wonder what happened to that lady in Michigan or Minnesota that demanded FOX network to pull Married With Children during its initial 3rd season run because she found it offensive and the show went on to air for 8 more seasons. |
