Video Thumbnails

Does anybody have some advice for this issue?

When I look at my vids [avi, mpg], no thumbnail is shown, just the default icon.

When I look at an MP4 vid, it DOES show thumbnails.

Any thoughts?

Just in case it wasn't clear, I mean that when I am browsing my vid collection I don't see thumbnails. The vids play fine.

klite codec pack helps in most cases for this (Basic) just don't push it too far. sometimes the explorer doesn't like it. mpeg's often I can't get thumbs unless I push it too far then the (my computer) or explorer crashes

Try this, unregister then re-register shmedia.dll

Start > Run and enter this regsvr32 /u shmedia.dll to un-register shmedia.dll, then Start > Run regsvr32 shmedia.dll to re-register shmedia.dll and you should now be able to generate avi thumbnails

think I tried that once. this would work if you once were able to get avi thumb s and now you can't . now if you never did thats where the klite codec comes in. and Windows 7 doesn't entirely correct the issue. ubuntu does alot better but harder to browse vids on it.

since I can't edit my own post, keeps going on the back button. Just to clarify. .mpg shows up just fine but .mpeg's tend to blank out. And when moving .mpeg's to another folder leave themselves behind until I have to use unlocker to get rid of them.

I tried this and it turns out that dll file isn't even on my pc?

The codec pack you suggested seems to have corrected the issue.
