Well, WinZip has stopped the free ride, any unzip suggestions?
So, 30 days or so ago, I got this message that my free winzip would be cancelled.
I figured there are probably plenty of free unzipping software programs, and I would be able to find one easily. What I did not remember on that day, 30 days or so ago, is that I work all the damn time and I haven't been looking. Any help for a member of orange standing? I know I rely heavily on the kindness of strangers here; so I'm hoping this doesn't tip the scales and I can pull one more miracle out of this PlanetSuzy hat. |

Thank you, both of you. I downloaded 7-zip and it seems to be working fine. Quite the different experience from win-zip, taking some adjusting on the fly.

I'm wondering now if I uninstall win-zip if everything I've unzipped with it turns into a pumpkin. And if that seems silly, you've never had my kind of luck. |

Once a file is unzipped it does not matter if you keep the program you used on your computer or not.

7-zip is really good. For years I used to only use WinRAR but have recently had problems with it extracting some files. 7z extracts those same files without a problem.

I use Bandizip,
Code:
http://bandisoft.com/bandizip/ Supported formats: 7Z, ACE, AES, ALZ, ARJ, BH, BIN, BZ, BZ2, CAB, Compound(MSI), EGG, GZ, IMG, ISO, ISZ, LHA, LZ, LZH, LZMA, PMA, RAR, RAR5, SFX(EXE), TAR, TBZ, TBZ2, TGZ, TLZ, TXZ, UDF, WIM, XPI, XZ, Z, ZIP, ZIPX, ZPAQ, ZSTD, BR and NSIS I'm not even sure what most of those are? The paid edition has a few 'extras': Password Manager Ability to attempt to Repair a broken Archive Password Recovery (Brute force) Image Preview in Archive Anti-malware Scan on Archive

I only ever get the buy message when I double click rar files instead of right clicking them. Question: I have a rar file that winrar does not recognize. Does 7 zip recognize rar files that winrar doesn't? |

7-Zip recognize all zipped files, provided that they're not damaged or corrupted.
