Both have their drawbacks. Of course, those are the 2 best filehosts out there allowed on the planet by far (Solidfiles being about as good as those 2), but they do have a couple drawbacks:

Zippy is blocked in most European countries (though use of a proxy generally solves that), and filesize is limited to 500MB, so most video files have to be split.

Mega has a daily download limit somewhat smaller than Zippy- being that I've never hit Zippy's daily limit I don't actually know what it is, but I have hit Mega's limit.

Zippy is the best option by far, no wait times at all, instant downloads at fast speeds, Anyone can get around being blocked too.

Mega can be a pain sometimes with slow uploads and there is a 4GB daily download limit.

how does one get a zippyshare file going?

for example, recently offered up in a post:

that "download now" button looks like the bait-and-switch types that are on some hosts to take u to advertising, malware, whatever. and indeed, clicking on it brings up all sorts of nasty stuff...not least of which it attempts to DL some "---.exe" file!

and yet, with other hosts i can look past the fishy buttons/banner and find the actual (usually subtle-looking) download link elsewhere. not on zippy! i see nothing else worth clicking on besides that one "download now" button.

so i click on it. and cancel off the resultant popups/exe files. and click on it again. and cancel off the popups/exe files. and click on it....

somewhere around the 5th round, the actual FILE kickstarts! what the...?

always leaves me thinking "how did i (eventually) manage that?!"

so what is the proper procedure here?!



PS: zippyshare far and away the fastest once it gets going. so don't tell me to "look elsewhere"....

Never had any problem like that, always downloads the file on the first attempt. I use Opera with built-in ad-, popup-block and VPN active though. Which browser do you use?
Before Zippy blocked itself, I used Firefox with NoScript active (and adblock of course, too), only allowing Zippy itself, worked pretty good as well.

For me it always downloads after the 3rd click. So first 2-3 times, you gotta quickly kill the pop-ups.

is it possible it's actually responding to the first click, but has a 60/90/120 second wait time like many other hosts? just not explicitly displayed as such?

sometimes when i click for the 2d, 3d, 4th times i wonder if i'm doing the whole "elevator button" thing....

Today, right now.. is slow to uploading files :/ only 800 kb/s.

For like 2 to 2 1/2 year I was only getting like 400k to 600k upload it is now way better
