You've got mine as well. I'm still pretty new to the SOTW, but what you've proposed sounds like a pretty rad art contest.
Sadly, I have no skill or technique when it comes to making sigs, but I'll be only too happy to rate and vote on the submissions! |

I'm down with that idea, Alina and I agree with Saint's point. I have seen similar stuff on DeviantART too, pretty heavy over there
But on PS, I'd give it a try and see where it goes. |

we''ll help all we can our only concern here, and a very minor one, is the one expressed by SaintsDecay here, that he's "Not sure we have enough active artists on PS to pull it off" maybe inviting the artist forums mentioned (deviantart, etc) to this contest might be a way to obtain more artists here (would probably have to run this by Admins though) and maybe that would be a great idea to generate more interest in the SOTW overall as well, could always use more folks participating there as well PS we've always wondered if offering some sort of "prize" here would also help, the only one that comes to mind as perhaps possible is offering premium depositfile accounts, but then would really not have any idea how do to this on an ongoing basis, we personally could not offer this ourselves again, thank you Alina!!! .

Thanks for replies and PM's. I'm appreciating your encouragement to try this...
Saints sent me a link to another forum which already do this contest. You can check this contest at "phun.org". I found the last contest with the issue "Redheads"... here are the competitors to give you an idea of the look of this contest. I would start this contest next week after I have received some issue suggestions from our members. I would give this first contest a lot of time (last three months of 2013) and I would give no rules to the community. So we have a chance to watch how this contest will develop. For example... any artist can give as much signatures to the contest as he/she wants. For myself I worry about one thing... maybe this contest can help to make SOTW even bigger. But it also can be a rivalry contest which split the work of our sigmakers in two parts. If this happens, the experiment will be over for me. So I will open a new thread for this contest, with a tentative name and there you can read everything what's new. Again, thank you for your encouragement. Here is the link to the new thread: TSC (new!) |

Great idea alina... I, like SaintsDecay, would be all over this idea, if I were as active as I used to be.
Some thoughts though: There is no need to worry if there aren't enough artists; if only two people enter, then only two people enter.... I've seen worse things in my life. As for adding extra work for the sigmakers; Anyone who makes sigs loves doing it and they would relish the idea. Suggestions only: Start it with a theme, then the winner of that particular contest picks the next theme; this will generate interest to win so that he/she can pick the next topic. (I personally would try to win so I could make the theme 'Barbara Dare'... just cuz...lol.) There is such a great diversity of interesting artists here, that the theme would never be something dull. As for the prize: Make it a 'most wins of the season' prize. This way, there will be plenty of time to figure out what it will be and will also allow a lot more time to accumulate bigger and better shtuff... Perhaps one of the prizes could be an increase in 'posts' that the newer members would benefit in faster promotion. (Cleared by admin of course.) Even if someone misses one or two contests, they will still be able to rally back and possibly win the overall prize, since the changing theme allows something for everyone...all it takes is one win, choose the theme that you are strong in and try to win again. May I also suggest that the themed entries be submitted to whoever is running it and be posted anonymously with only a number to vote for... this will satisfy everyone, and yes, there are some who think people vote with favoritism. Advertise in the SotW contest where people can go to vote or enter. There. I think I am officially out of thoughts... cheers Gene (ps.. thanks alina, for using me as an example winner.)

of course, open to discussion, but we assume that the Forum-Wide Signature Guidelines would still be used, as in the SOTW, below:
Signature Guidelines Signature Guidelines - Link Signature guidelines have become necessary due to some members using extremely large images and/or gif files in their signatures.
(AND this below was added to them, we again assume you would want them as well) If you use the upload feature in your userCP and up the image to Planet Suzy, you are limited in file size and dimensions. If you upload the image to an approved/suggested image host, you do not have those limitations. Use the [img] code they supply. The forum software itself also limits you to a max of 1000 characters. As far as content, if it's porn related, follow the general site guidelines; no beast, underage, or r@pe, etc. .

There is no "theme" with the SOTW signature contest.
You nominate any signature currently being used by a member that follows the rules. You can NOT nominate your own, or one you created the rules are spelled out in the first page of the SOTW here http://veterperementour.ru/showpost.p...71&postcount=1 for instance, the winner of the SOTW was announced yesterday, Friday, and nominations start up again first thing next Monday, etc so the process awards bi-monthly there is another newer signature contest that has a theme, the present one, chosen by alina, is "PlanetSuzy" http://veterperementour.ru/t695340-ts...ntest-new.html hope this helps

Can sigs from last round run again this round?
Shouldnt this round be based on newly created sigs? I mean, I can submit sigs from 2005, but that hardly promotes creativity amongst the artists, right? Allowing previous runners to be nominated over and over creates a static atmosphere and will cause new artists to hesitate to enter. Dont we want to foster an ongoing spirit of creativity?

Your words don't include the whole truth. It's only possible to nominate signatures which are carried from members at the time of its nomination. You cannot nominate a signature again and again. It must be carried. If someone doesn't change the signature (lechecova for example, to honor an old friend) it can be nominated again and again. That's the rules at the moment. Certainly there can be discussion about a rule changing. But it's hard to remember all already nominated signatures from the past, it's a hard job for the hosts of this contest. It should stay being fun. |
