I think that the first 2-3 porn movies you watch, because of the very high emotional response they provide, will probably stay in your mind forever and you'll always try to find a substitute for them.

I agree that the first intro to porn usually does make the biggest impression as it's all new, exciting and damn naughty. It's the wall of taboo that one just breaks when one sees their first fuck. It leaves a mark.

I think the next biggest impression is when one can rent or buy porn freely. It's no longer stealing dad's porn stash, watching it when they're gone, and rewinding it to the exact second that you started watching it- but it's as an adult when you can enjoy porn on your own terms. There no longer has to be the stealth mode of watching porn. One can go into those video back rooms freely and browse. The stigma of getting caught is eased. So I think that's when porn really starts making a deeper impression.

One can choose what and who they want to watch now as opposed to the meager selection that dad had socked away in his closet. I think that's when we started recognizing names of certain stars that appeal to us and we can look for more of their performances. We're no longer stuck watching Ron Jeremy over and over.

Couldn't agree more with that!

The first movies I watched were aired on a local TV channel at late hours, mostly mid-to-late 90s productions, and some early 2000s ones. In those days, movies were plot-based and erotica played a role in porn. But I've always wondered how much is true, I mean: were those movies really more arousing than nowadays porn?, or was it me the one who was more willing to get aroused?

I was only interested on g/g scenes already then, and, compared to current productions, I must admit lesbian sex is much better now. In those movies, scenes lasted from 10 to 15 minutes, sex toys were always present and girls usually behaved more timidly and, sometimes, you could tell some of them felt uncomfortable in some degree. But... Those movies had something I call the "Sin Factor", which is the feeling of being doing something wrong, both the girls on the screen and me for watching them.

Now that feeling has been completely lost. And I miss it.

I realize I tend to look for productions which look like those movies I used to watch as a teenager. It might sound silly, but what turned me on the most was the way female perfomers used to kiss in those days. Instead of really kissing, they just rubbed their tongues for a while. It looked fake, but that was the point. Now sex is better, displayed on a more natural way, most girls are pretty good performers, but I don't regard it as hot as I perceived it was in those late 90s films.

The other key element is what you mention in this last paragraph. Girls could be prettier than average still, but men were regular guys. Some of them were ugly, even. That was part of the fantasy, too. Now sex is also fake, but in a different way. Whereas you can find almost every kind of female shapes, men have been standarized. There's no room for fantasy anymore.

Humour played a role in those productions many times, as well. Porn is no longer funny.
