Apparently she was making more money off her platforms then what she was making in the WWE. Most of the female (and some of the males) only make about 100K per year. On top of that they have to pay all their own expenses. The WWE only pays for the travel to and from their home. The travel within the tour, meals, hotels, etc. are the performers responsibility. One of the reasons she was so opposed to the recent WWE edict since her income would be more then halved.
Today, the WWE released a statement as to the reason Vega was released, and it's based upon breach of contract, obviously regarding the Twitch issue. That being said, it's clear that her release was previously arranged, possibly with a target date to comply, and her tweet regarding unionization was made after her release.

But SAG-AFTRA (the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists) is looking to "directly engage" with professional wrestlers... in addition to drawing the ire of former Democratic presidential candidate Andrew Yang. This may not end well for the WWE.

More here.

Joining SAG makes a lot of sense since wrestling is scripted (and with WWE heavily scripted). But, most wrestlers are very conservative so I can't see them agreeing to join a union.

I thought what they did last night was a fitting end to the greatest character in WWE history. It was a great way to bring closure. Since his debut, The Undertaker has been this walking assault weapon that so many have tried to destroy but he kept coming back, and stronger. No one could destroy him. No one could make him Rest in Peace. Only the Undertaker could make the Undertaker Rest in Peace. It makes perfect sense.

My take away is he's just retired from matches. He'll be Saudi appearance exclusive which is kind of sad but whatever. I will give it to him that he didn't have his wife running out there to ruin it. Would have made some sense to keep the legends around ringside at least. Looked so ridiculous when they've randomly left.

I watched Undertaker's second interview with Stone Cold for the Stone Cold podcast. A very interesting interview.

- He delved deeper into the Streak ending at WrestleMania XXX.

He said that when he arrived to the Superdome, he was still going over and that the Streak would extend to 22-0. A few hours before the show, Vince came to see him personally and that's when Undertaker knew that Brock was going over. He asked Vince if he was sure. Vince said, "If Brock doesn't beat you, who will?"

The reason behind Taker asking that was because Taker didn't think that Brock needed the Streak. He more so wanted it to go to someone that needed that extra push.

- He talked about working in 2017. He openly admitted that he had no business being in the ring that year because his hip was fucked and he needed surgery.

- He also brought up the Hell in a Cell match with Mick Foley and stated what everyone knew: that the first fall was planned, that the second one through the roof wasn't, that the chair knocked Foley's teeth out, that he thought Foley might have been dead after the second fall, and that Taker himself was sporting a broken foot.

- He and Austin brought up the Elimination Chamber incident. The pyro engulfing the Undertaker. Undertaker stated that he had a talk with the pyro guy a couple of weeks earlier because he could feel the heat. The pyro was getting dangerously close to him, and he told the pyro guy to ease up.

Undertaker stated that he was originally going to wear a sleeveless entrance attire like he wore a month later at WrestleMania XXVI. Good thing he didn't, because the burns would have been a lot worse. Before he went out, he doused his hair in water and took a second bottle with him.

When he got to the ring, he looked like he wanted to fucking kill someone. He was pissed off, and rightfully so. He said that entering the match last was a good thing for him and his co-workers. It allowed him to douse himself in water in order to alleviate the pain and also allowed him to calm down.

He said that if he was the first person out of the pod, he still would have been pissed from the pyro incident, and would have been throwing potatoes.

- Austin brought up the longtime rumor of Undertaker taping up his fists and sitting at Gorilla during the main event of WrestleMania XIV. Taker admitted that it was true. He admitted that while he respected Shawn as a performer at that point, he didn't like him personally because of all the shit that Shawn pulled.

Undertaker said that if Shawn pulled his shit on Austin, then Taker would have beaten the shit out of Shawn.

- He also said that AJ Styles called him for the match and put AJ over as one of the best performers ever. Taker stated that he can't go anymore. He said that if he just did chokeslams and tombstones, he'd have another few years but he doesn't want to do that.

All in all, he sounds like he's at peace with not being able to go anymore, because he got to go out on his own terms, he had a very entertaining match to go out on, and it was against a fellow all-time great like AJ Styles. That's a huge feather in the cap for AJ, because he can say that he was the Undertaker's final opponent.

Undertaker unintentionally buried the entire roster when he said the only guy left he wanted to work with was AJ. Ricochet? Keith? Nah, give it to AJ, but of course, got to beat him. Another star who didn't do the honors on the way out. If Taker got buried by Strowman he'd have truly been made, instead he's just there waiting for Roman to take a fucking vacation.

Considering that AJ Styles has the ability to have a good match with anyone, it makes sense as to why Undertaker would want to work with him.

Plus, with Styles getting personal with the promos, although I agree with Styles on Michelle stealing the Styles Clash and laughed my ass off at Taker stating that his wife did the Styles Clash better and got it over (I found it hilarious because nothing about Michelle got over at all. She was one of those people that was just there.), it made sense for Undertaker to go over. Storywise, it made sense.

Undertaker can do what he wants and yea it made sense to beat AJ, no doubts. Goes against the principle of the top talent leaving putting over somebody who needs it though. Angle put over Baron ffs. It was obviously the wrong opponent for Kurt though but Strowman, he is the almost guy. Definitively dominantly shoving Undertaker in the ground would be shocking and lasting. The streak was over after all so I think this is the only way this could have worked. It's never about star ratings and wanting your last great match. That's all fantasy world. Undertaker in the interview was always bringing up business this and that yet he ignored that on the way out. But whatever, can't hate the guy, just pointing out what I see.

WWE is saddened to learn that Pat Patterson has passed away at age 79.

A true trailblazer of the industry, Patterson was linked to many “firsts” in sports-entertainment throughout his storied career, including the first-ever Intercontinental Title reign and the creation of the Royal Rumble Match. In a career spanning six decades, the renaissance man left an indelible mark on the industry in the ring, on the microphone and behind the scenes.

Patterson began his career in 1958 in his native Canada before becoming a fixture in the Bay Area for nearly two decades. After winning the AWA Tag Team Championship with Ray Stevens in 1978, Patterson moved on to WWE. Under the tutelage of The Grand Wizard, Patterson made an immediate impact and became the first Intercontinental Champion in September 1979. Patterson’s most legendary WWE rivalry was undoubtedly his war with Sgt. Slaughter, which captivated the WWE Universe with Boot Camp Matches and a brutal Alley Fight at Madison Square Garden.

Shortly before his in-ring retirement in 1984, Patterson joined Mr. McMahon as a color commentator. Even after hanging up his boots, Patterson was far from finished reimagining the possibilities of the sports-entertainment industry. In 1988, Patterson brought one of the ring’s most groundbreaking ideas to life by creating the original format for the Royal Rumble Match.

Patterson returned to the ring during WWE's electric "Attitude Era," creating many memorable moments alongside Gerald Brisco as one of Mr. McMahon's hilarious "Stooges." Patterson even pinned Crash Holly to claim the Hardcore Title. For all his efforts, Pat Patterson was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 1996 by Bret Hart.

In his 25-plus years in WWE, Patterson was synonymous with making history. From the Intercontinental Title to the Royal Rumble Match and beyond, his name will forever be revered in WWE lore. This amazing legacy was captured in Patterson's 2016 autobiography, "Accepted: How the First Gay Superstar Changed WWE," a moving chronicle about his life both inside and out of the ring.

WWE extends its condolences to Patterson’s family and friends.
