Using AI upscaling to enhance your videos

Does anyone know why i can't play my files after i upscaled them with topaz video enhance ai? If i do a small clip to test setting it works fine. When i upscale the whole clip i can't play it anymore.

What are you playing the Upscaled videos with? VLC? Celluloid? Windows Media Player? Did you make sure the file completed before trying to play it?

I've been using the trial version of Topaz Video Enhance AI for a bit, using the Gaia-HQ AI model. The results are impressive enough to merit the long waits for a scene to process, though the end result also can look a bit noisy/grainy. I'm guessing the Theia AI model is included in the full version, now I'm just wondering how big the difference is between the results.

Another component to remastering old videos I've seen is interpolating 29.97 fps videos to 60 fps. Has anyone had reliable experience with this, or combining these techniques with upscaling the resolution? I'm wondering if you get better results doing the 29.97 fps -> 60 fps adjustment and then doing the resolution upscaling, or if it's best to upscale the resolution and then adjust the fps.

I use the Gaia setting too and have a problem that the prog wont let me do EVERY video it says copywrite or some shit I then make a new copy of that same video in my editoer and it WILL let me upscale that version...heres an example of one project it was i think 800x600 originally and i upped it to 1280x720 but to save time I edited the scaled version to just the best part if you adjust vlc to the aspect ratio 16:9 and watch both videos fullscreen like that the difference is astonishing!

Avidemux has a framerate resample option so you can use that to convert a 29.97 fps video to 60fps, but so far I can't tell significant improvement in this way.

The most reliable method for that goal is still using SVP, the plus side is that there is no conversion needed, your CPU/GPU process that in real time.

one I'm using is Video Proc which I was mad about how I ended up getting it.

It's called another name Win X HD Converter but once you buy that they tell you they are no longer except for minor updates concentrating on that program from 2018 onwards but rather Video Proc smh So why sell me the other. I got a refund on that one. Still the learning curve , well just over designed imho..

Thanks for this suggestion, but I cant run it on Windows 7 Can I send you a very short video clip to try and improve and enlarge as big as possible. Without losing any quality? It's only like a 40 second clip. I'd love to improve and enlarge a bunch of old ( 2004/2006 ) Jen Hilton Vids. But would never ask to go that far for me. I've worked with many different converters over the years. But haven't for the life of me, been able to perform the magic as I called it. A guy at a video forum performed on a clip of one of Jens 352x288 videos. Boosting it up to a 1080 size and as good quality as the original was. Using Avisynth and another program I cant remember the name of now. The guy said that was only a basic resize and cleanup he did on it. So I can only imagine how good and large a file he could have made it, as a finished product.

I have a lot of older porn videos released before 2008 for nostalgia reasons, those are usually low-res due to their age and don't have HD equivalents, despite the fond memories, they are a bit hard to look at nowadays. However, the final result does depend on the source file, some videos can look a bit unnatural and plastic after the processing if the source quality is too poor, but overall I find those older ladies are a lot better to look at after the AI enhancement.

So far I feel the biggest drawback of current AI enhancement solutions is not the result being imperfect as I mentioned above, but the huge amount of time it takes to process the video, my setup is decent-powerful (core i7 6770 w/ RTX 2070) but it takes almost 5 hours to process a 30-min 480p video to 1080p, this is why I haven't test it on a full-length movie, I assume that would take a day.

So, if you're like me and have a collection of older videos, maybe give AI video enhancement software a try, there are several brands of them so far I find Topaz to be the best but feel free to look for your choice. Time to revitalize those vintage pornstars as they surely deserve some HD treatment.
