Tbh sometimes (I just checked the scenes with Madelyn Marie) the results of very very low quality sources look kind of artificial or cartoon like. In this case the result look like a real higher quality scene. I really like it.

That is why I always ask for a link to the best quality source. The worse the quality is in the source (lots of compression artifacts are the hardest to fix without sacrificing details) the worse the result. When the details (skin texture, etc) get too low, you start to get that cartoony look. I have recently figured out a way to help those results, but the goal is always to find the best source possible.

I recently outlined my current process for someone in PM...

My workflow goes like this for most sources that are mediocre to low quality:
- Clean up really bad sources (deblock and denoise a little if needed)
- Run through Topaz with Iris Low Quality V1, Relative to Auto parameters, with Fix Compression at -100 and Improve detail at 98, recover detail at 100. All others at 0 at first and then tweak as needed.
- Color grade/correct
- Run through Topaz again using Proteus V4, Relative to Auto, and set Fix Compression to -100, Sharpen at 90, Anti-Alias/deblur at 90, all others at 0. Recover detail at 100. Tweak as needed.
- I do a final pass using Hybrid encoder to clean up any leftover artifacts and enhance details.
- Size to final resolutions and encode to x265 using FFMPEG command line that I tested a TON. Happy to share that as well.

For sources that are very faded and lacking detail, Iris Medium quality for a 2nd pass, instead of Proteus, can boost detail. Just make sure to crank up the reduce noise setting when you try it.

For good quality sources, a single Proteus pass followed by a final Hybrid cleanup is all you need.

For Really good quality sources Nyx is good.
