For instance, this last UFC Fight Night card in London, on paper it was very watered down compared to a PPV but it was about par with other european cards. First fight in the preliminaries was a chick fight, I'm not that fond of those because the technique on display and the way women take hits is just weird to me, but it got bloody quickly and I had fun watching it. Next up, Scott vs Askham, two english dudes delivery in a fun action paced split decision. After that a great KO by a rising prospect, then I skipped the next 3 fights since I didn't care about those fighters and came back for Joe Duffy's technical dismantling of Reza Madadi. End of the preliminaries. First fight on the main card I skipped, watched Brad Pickett going out on his shield on his retirement fight, Gunnar Nelson is a fantastic fun fighter who's always looking for the finisha and he got it again this time, I'll always watch Gunni. Main event time, Jimi Manuwa is a known brutal finisher who only lost to two of the very elite of his division and he's fighting at home. Corey Anderson is a decent wrestler with some movement. That's a recipe for a brutal K.O. and that was a fantastic left hook by Manuwa after a few minutes of shutting down takedowns and feeling out the distance. All in all, a decent card with two fights I really wanted to see, a couple surprises and a good up and comer. Skipped what bored me and that's about it. There are around 500 fighters in the UFC today and 50+ events a year, can't watch and follow all that but you can find a gem in every card if you're home with nothing better to do. It's not really watered down, back in the day the UFC had very few events and fighters, you cared about all so everything felt "stacked". Now it's way too much to care about all so things will only feel "stacked" if they have a lot of things you personally care about going for in a card or if you decide to eat up some marketing. |

Even though I'm signed up for FightPass - I never watch events live - it just takes up too much time. I watch an event over the course of the following week (or weeks) so I can skip all the promo crap between fights. Even doing it that way it's quite a time commitment to watch an entire event in one sitting. On top of that I like to keep up to date with events like EBI and Submission Underground - so that compounds the problem. If you add Bellator and the other available shows, the only way you could keep up would be to become a full time MMA journalist. On the subject of EBI - I recently watched EBI 11. Not the best EBI event I've seen - but very enjoyable nevertheless. I'm still unconvinced about the so called "combat jiu jitsu" mini tournament introduced in that event. Not sure it really added anything of real substanance to the competition. EBI 12 looks like it should be really cool - all womens event. |

He declined 16-life and 18-40 offers. Guess he think attempted murder, sexual assault and more, are not worth 16 year.
I still would not give him life in prison, just because watching him crying in TUF house, I got a feeling there are some big demons from his childhood. Maybe formed victim turned aggressor. Mix that with mexican supplements, that induce rage, alcohol and you have receipt for disaster... Sad stuff, esp. for Christy Mack. |

And in other news - Pearl Gonzalez has been pulled from the card because she has breast implants. They've already made a boob-job of the event with the Cormier weigh-in so they might as well let her fight as well imo.

Well I've been looking at the latest TUF series - but I don't think I can take much more of it. Watching two supposedly mature men (Grabrandt & Dillashaw) bitch and whine at each other, with another supposedly mature man (Urijah Faber) chipping in every so often, just isn't as entertaining as Dana White would have you believe. The whining is worse than on the Rousey Tate season!!!

Apparently the "trash talk escalates" on the next episode. Really??? What a bore. Way to kill a show. |
