![]() The Collector had a cool opening credit sequence/theme going on...too bad it wasn't coupled with a better film, in my opinion.
![]() And though not a movie, the Forever Knight TV series had a cool theme going on. ![]() |

![]() Today's feature from 1984 is Ghostbusters! This film was directed by Ivan Reitman and written by Dan Aykroyd & Harold Ramis. It had a budget of $30 million and raked in $291,632,124 at the box office. With such numbers, it's easy to see why Hollywood gets a hard on for sequels. Even though most sequels fail. Ghostbusters had just such a sequel. Ghostbusters II came out in 1989. Despite making $215 million worldwide, the film was not as successful as the original, becoming a box office disappointment with mixed reviews.
Cast Bill Murray/Dr. Peter Venkman Dan Aykroyd/Dr. Raymond "Ray" Stantz Harold Ramis/Dr. Egon Spengler Sigourney Weaver/Dana Barrett Ernie Hudson/Winston Zeddemore Rick Moranis/Louis Tully Annie Potts/Janine Melnitz Slavitza Jovan/Gozer Paddi Edwards/Gozer (voice) All credit to original Youtube Uploaders Ghostbusters Music Video Ghostbusters Trailer

![]() YES! Okay, this movie, the whole franchise is something I believe was something for kids to latch onto. I didn't see the movie until a few years ago, taking advantage of the movie oasis that was Megaupload. This was right after losing satellite TV and getting cable internet. So the speed was great enough to download movie after movie and stockpile up. I had watched Zombieland before watching this movie. Zombieland featured footage of Ghostbusters, and Woody Harrelson's character being a major mark for Bill Murray. So I had an idea of what the movie had, as well as watching the Angry Video Game Nerd reviews of Ghostbusters games. Also, Cracked, a website I went on a lot before joining this forum, had an article on sequels that shouldn't have been born. Ghostbusters 2 was listed, and I'll get to that later.
So I finally took the leap to watching the movie, and was very much entertained. For a movie rated PG, the comedy was cute, light-hearted, but for an adult, Bill Murray's comedy was very much accessible. Smart ass, dry and witty humor that works well. Granted, I knew about his charm in movies prior to watching this. Namely Space Jam and the Wes Anderson movies. The movie's so easy to pick out beloved memories, and imitate, that it's no wonder it became a phenomenon. It's a fantastic movie, and is second only to Back to the Future as the best PG rated movie I ever saw. The theme song, with its popularity, it wasn't new to me when I watched the movie, but with the movie, came a reason to move and groove to it. Rather than just hearing from wherever. Now on Ghostbusters 2, the Cracked article in question made a really strong point about this. That being that the movie's based off of the city souring on the Ghostbusters, because they thought all that was done, was fake. The marshmallow man, the ghosts roaming about. All that stuff, that they saw first hand, was just fake. What the hell man? That makes no sense. You believe there's a higher power, but never met this higher power. Okay, but you go around, you see ghosts, but you claim they aren't real? So that irritating hole in the plot made me like the movie less. Other than that, it's basically just a second version of the Ghostbusters' brand of comedy, lacking a bit of charm from the first movie. All in all, it's fine, has replay value, once you pass through the plothole. So sweet entry here, and I add that Sigourney Weaver, was hot (still good looking in my opinion). |

![]() You're just not a film(or TV) detective, until you've got a theme song from the incomparable Brazilian composer, Lalo Schifrin:
