I am not going back and read 8 pages but this is what I am getting: Fuller is the creator of this new series and producer and he has been fired by CBS?

If that is true, this Star Trek series is kaput already. It was kaput already when CBS decided to only make it available for online streaming but this is the first and last nail in the coffin.

Its not only available for online streaming, it will be aired online first and then on regular networks.

I heard the CBS was airing the first episode and then it's only for online streaming afterwards. CBS all access here in the U.S and Netflix for everywhere else but the U.S.

Not that I hate Star Wars but I do hate how SW is going stronger than ever nowadays meanwhile Star Trek Beyond - which was an amazingly fun movie - barely made even at the box office, the whole franchise got shafted by virtually no celebration of the 50th anniversary and now...I really hope the series will be a success. And I do want a 4th movie too!

I agree with Grumble. Slowly but surely, they've neutered everything that made the original series/movie so great and replaced it with a lot of lens flare and shiny laser blasts.

Star Trek was always intelligent science fiction but they've turned it into comedy most of the time now. Remarkably the re-casting was decent but with awful dreck written for them to say.

The first one wasn't that bad and they got worse from there.

That's what happens when something you love is controlled by two separate corporations (Viacom/CBS & Paramount) who care more about profits and suing people for fan films than they do about the product they are putting out.

Casting news for 2017's "Star Trek: Discovery" continues to pour in at warp speed. CBS on Monday announced the addition of three new cast members who will play Klingons in the new show, which takes place before the original series. (Disclosure: CBS is CNET's parent company.)

The Klingons are Chris Obi ("American Gods"), Shazad Latif ("Penny Dreadful") and Mary Chieffo (known for her stage work). Obi takes on the role of T'Kuvma, a Klingon leader focused on uniting the various Klingon houses. Latif plays Kol, T'Kuvma's protege. Chieffo steps in as L'Rell, a battle deck commander on a Klingon vessel.

In case you've been hiding in a worm hole, Klingons are an alien warrior species known for their honor, battle skills and occasional skirmishes (or cooperation) with Starfleet ships and crew.

Earlier casting announcements included "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" star Michelle Yeoh as Captain Georgiou of the Starship Shenzhou, Anthony Rapp as openly gay astromycologist Lt. Stamets and Doug Jones from "Hellboy" as Starfleet science officer Lt. Saru. We are still waiting to find out the rest of the cast for "Discovery."

One of the biggest questions surrounding Klingons in "Discovery" is what their makeup will look like. The original series featured very human-looking Klingons while later film and television efforts highlighted forehead ridges and alien features. This discrepancy was explored in a couple episodes of the prequel series "Enterprise," which explained the original-series Klingon appearance as the work of a virus.

"Star Trek: Discovery" will air through the CBS All Access streaming service in May 2017, and through Netflix in certain countries.

Sonequa Martin-Green, known for playing Sasha Williams on the hit AMC show "The Walking Dead," has been cast as the lead in "Star Trek: Discovery," according to Entertainment Weekly.

Martin-Green will play a lieutenant commander on the Discovery, according to EW, although as of press time, there are no further details on her character, including her name. Will she be a Klingon? A Romulan? A Bajoran? A Vulcan? A human? Only time will tell!

But fans of "The Walking Dead" character don't have to worry about Sasha being killed off any time soon (at least, we hope not): the 31-year-old actress will continue to be a series regular in the zombie drama.

"Star Trek: Discovery," premieres on CBS All Access in May 2017, with a 13-episode first season.

According to TVLine, the first season "follows an incident in the history of Starfleet that other series/movies in the franchise have touched on but never fully explored."

Former executive producer Bryan Fuller told the website "Discovery" will tell "that story through a character who is on a journey that is going to teach her how to get along with others in the galaxy."

The news of Martin-Green's casting is an exciting one because it's a big step towards more diversity on TV — the actress is the first African-American woman to lead a "Star Trek" series.

"Discovery" is shaping up to have a diverse cast, featuring the franchise's first openly gay character, a lieutenant played by Anthony Rapp, as well as "Crouching Tiger" star Michelle Yeoh as a Starfleet captain and African-American actor Chris Obi and English-Pakistani actor Shazad Latif as Klingons.

"Star Trek started with a wonderful expression of diversity in its cast... we’re continuing that tradition,” Fuller told reporters in August. "We wanted to paint a picture of Starfleet that’s indicative of encountering people who are much more different than we are.”

Fuller also explained why "Discovery's" lead isn't a captain — at least not yet.

"We’ve seen six series from the captain’s point of view," he explained. "To see a character from a [new] perspective on the starship — one who has different dynamic relationships with a captain, with subordinates, it gave us richer context."

So, who else is excited for "Star Trek: Discovery"?

I'd be shocked if this show isn't a complete disaster from start to finish. Having said that, I'll probably watch the first three episodes before I bail out.
