Jesus fuck, it's like I leave and come back more often than Shawn Michaels. I've been around PS-- just been busy offline so my focus is short. Missed last week's Raw, but I finished Payback and Raw earlier.
First and foremost, AJ-- wow. Now you guys have got to see what I see in her. First she proves her wrestling ability and wins the Divas title, and then she delivers the best promo I've seen from any diva in the WWE. And, you saw it coming, she's looked fucking amazing the past two nights. I'm loving the wardrobe malfunctions. Pink thong at Payback. Seems WWE is taking a better turn lately. Most of the matches at Payback were good, very little filler is there, and I'm seeing more heart. Punk's return was, as some of you put it, random. Glad to have him back, though. I'm digging the Wolverine mutton chops. If he's anything like me, though, he'll fuck it up next time he shaves and he'll have to shave it off. Just don't shave that often. Punk versus Jericho was good. Got to love the hometown crowd. Feel sorry for Ziggler. His match with Del Rio was good, but his title reign just seemed short and he seemed held back. I'm liking Del Rio as a heel, though, so maybe something good will come of it. I felt sorry for AJ after Ziggy lost the title. Made me just want to hold her and tell her it'll be okay. Given the sympathy Ziggler's getting, looks like he had a face turn. That complicates things. Ziggler and AJ are scheduled to be in the same Comic Con session either later this month or next month, but I don't know how they're going to keep the stable going. AJ and Big E are better heels now than they've ever been. I'm just pulling for Big E to get the girl. I trust him more than Ziggy. The Cena vs. Ryberg match was unbelievable. Not in a good way. The ambulance match part particularly. Ripping the door off of the ambulance, along with the fender, and caving in the roof. Are we meant to believe that cars are made of tin foil? I've reinforced cars before, and let me tell you, you can't just rip anything off with your bare hands even if you are Superman. That was just stupid. Cena shows no signs of letting up. Same old "I'm still here, I conquer" speech we've heard a million times with no different words. Excellent hoax by Mark Henry, and I'll admit he had me going, but we've seen this match before. |

FINALLY! A good Raw show. No stupid shit, no dancing about like idiots, just a solid show building storylines like they should be doing. It was rather refreshing and I can't really pick out any faults. I want to see it continue but my hopes for that are rather bleak. As for Bryan I had my suspicions watching that it was legit but thank fuck he is all good. How depressing would that of been if he was injured.

Vince McMahon vs Triple H Stephanie to turn heel with Hunter, and they take over. I'm sure they did something like this before . I'll believe it when I see it.

I was thinking Vince saying how good The Shield are, and how he never liked Kane might set up something with The Undertaker and Kane at Summerslam. The Shield need something else to do now. Wasn't that a rumor going about? I'd take that over Vince vs Triple H. Quote:
When the excitement of Mark Henry fooling me went away a bit, I thought it still comes down to Cena vs Henry and it will suck, but then I think I will get better matches on the same pay per view anyway, and Cena rarely has the best match. As long as the story continues to be good. Like you said, there seems to be more heart. I was thinking months ago how hard it was to do a real fab 5, as booker would call it. Now it would be pretty easy to do a real top 10. Lots of people with momentum behind them, and going places. |

That sucks. It is good that he was pulled out now. I must take back my statement about WWE doing this shit too much, and being pissed off at El Matador Randy Orton getting the win. |

Looking at SCs gif of Bryans dive it appears he did fail to get a solid arm extension for cushioning the impact and his head goes into the barricade, ouch! Might wanna slow down just a tad in the future when goin for that or do what Punk does and don't do it on the side of the ring with the barricade. Saying that now Punk probably will start doing it.

I just find it funny that HHH is the one that actually called off the match because of D Bryan's stinger after the suicide dive. Was it not HHH that after he blew his quad the first time, finished the match...even being put in the Walls Of Jericho? Umm..yeah, it was. Guess he looks at things from the executive side of things now and doesn't want to risk one of his top starts and performers right now. And rightfully so. Who's mre over than Bryan right now? No body.
As far as the Cena vs Henry feud goes, while everyone knows that Cena won't be losing the title in this one, it's great to see Henry in the spotlight again in the title picture. Henry has put alot of years into the business and if this is his last title feud, then who better to go against than the top face in the company. Also, I'm looking forward to it much more than the Cena Ryback feud. At least Henry feels like a legit physical threat. |

Yeah, tripper must realize it is not abut measuring the size of your dick, and to be smarter. it was stupid what he did back then, it earned him tough guy points, and I guess that was most important. Any head injury can't be ignored. It was definitely a smart move to pull Bryan out. I know Bryan is a master wrestler, but it is one of those things I think can always go wrong no matter how good you are.
At least Sin Cara isn't doing it every week. He would probably not remember who he is by now |

Thoughts on Main Event. Strangely enough, it opened with the same video that played on RAw, recapping Payback. The only difference is saying "Tonight," rather than "Tonight on RAW." Hehehehe. Cody Rhodes joins Miz and Josh Matthews!
1.) The Shield! They open up the show, 6 man tag match. Try to make up for the loss on SmackDown. Cody Rhodes proves to be a good hand on commentary, and it was funny that he backed up his tag team strategy talk by saying he's only 27 years old and won 33 tag team titles with 45 partners! Oh goodness, and that was just because Miz was claiming to know tag team strategy, since he actually held tag team titles, 4 times. Anyways, the match was fine. I think it was clear who would get pinned. The Usos are just starting to make a turnaround and would be wasteful to pin either of them. So who got pinned? Justin Gabriel, a guy who has nothing going for him, therefore being the sacrificial lamb. When that came, it was through what Rhodes said very well. It was taking too much to make sure everything was safe as the Usos got in the ring to stop Reigns and Rollins from getting into the ring. So with that chaos subsided, Gabriel was thinking 450, but it was too late. Ambrose regained himself and hit his sweet finisher (needs a name) for the win. 2.) After a recap of Punk's 24 hours from Payback to RAW, it was time for some Sin Cara. Yeah, because that's always perfect. He's set to face Antonio Cesaro. Zeb Colter got the mic and questioned Cara's reasons for winning a mask, and mentioned Mexico not providing clean water and stuff. It's strange now that Colter called Cesaro a "real American." Not really, but claim they share the same philosophy, makes sense. Yeah, really, I don't think Cesaro needs a mouthpiece. I just interpret this alliance as an attempt to push the guy. Hell, replacing Jack Swagger's push that didn't really peak: i.e. World Heavyweight Championship? The match was great as Sin Cara of course is clearly best when working with Antonio Cesaro. Cesaro works best with anyone, because he's that damn good. If there's one guy I'd love to see squash guys everyday is Cesaro. His offense in such formats is flashy and power based at the same time. Most squashes tout the power of guys. Rhodes' commentary was so good, especially when selling how unique and strong Cesaro's chinlock is. You need that kind of commentary because it looks like a normal chinlock, but you have to accentuate the little things that are at play. I loved it, and Cesaro came off dominant, to the point that commentary conversed of Cesaro being a "future champion," likely referring to world champion. 3.) The SmackDown match advertised as Bryan vs. Ambrose, has changed. Commentary updated the situation of Bryan, he's cleared to wrestle. However, getting what he wants more I think, a rematch with Randall! 4.) Kaitlyn and Aksana wrestle. Kaitlyn's wearing her wrestling gear, not a shirt that forces her to give a nip slip! Anyways, by this point, Rhodes is so into commentary, and shows that he and Miz have good chemistry on the booth. They bounce off each other, with Rhodes always starting the arguments and bickering. Miz though would send feelers here and there, such as mentioning Cody as some heartthrob. Anyways, the match was fine, Kaitlyn didn't flip burgers immediately, just a small breaking point met, and she exploded for the win. I was just paying attention more to commentary. Dammit, Rhodes should be on commentary more. 5.) HA! Rhodes said he's excited for Bob Van Dam's return. He grew up watching him, and can't wait to beat him! I love it. After this, they showed Mark Henry's masterpiece of a promo on RAW. All of it. Yeah I agree with the board, this is Henry's best promo. The acting, the tears, HHH should've gave his acting roles to Mark. Hehe. I didn't mention, "Henry" chant and "You still got it" filled the ring. Damn right, and the fan response, I'm looking at them, and they were shocked. JBL said it was the biggest double cross, I can see why he said that. Even when Henry loses to John Cena for the title, I think if he got a DVD on him, that would probably the star segment of it. Where you stop and talk about this one segment, rather than just a string of moments in his career. In the broadest sense, compare it to Punk's promo 2 years ago. That special thing that becomes tied with a wrestler for the rest of their life. If a wrestler's going to lie about retiring (in real life meaning they retire but come back anyways), it might as well be good, such as this angle. That closes Main Event, an especially good show. The wrestling was fine, but man I'm high on Rhodes as commentator. Thoughts on NXT 1.) Oh no! Brad Maddox on commentary. Dammit, but at least Adrian Neville's wrestling. He's against Bray Wyatt. The match didn't last long as Neville's advantage over Wyatt was stopped by the Family. Neville got shoved from the top rope, and the entire Family beat on him. Kassius Ohno and Corey Graves came to stop the Family. Dusty Rhodes interrupted and pulled out a Teddy Long! He booked a tag team match, playa, 6 man with the guys involved here. 2.) Sami Zayn faces some black guy, Angelo Dawkins. Apparently Brad Maddox claimed to be so impressed with Dawkins, that he saw "something" in him. The thing is, I barely saw anything. It was a short match where he had the opening advantage on Zayn, but the former El Generico won the match. The comeback that featured his sweet DDT finisher. Simple win. 3.) There was a vignette on Leo Kruger, and it makes me wonder, where has that guy been? Amongst WWE and NXT, the guy has a unique voice, therefore his talk here was interesting. "Ta-ta," thst could be a money line. 4.) The third first round match of the NXT Women's Championship tourney is Sasha Banks and Summer Rae. HMM! This was a pretty darn good divas match. From both women, as Sasha Banks showed more potential here, as past matches were shorter than this. So she showed some skill, and selling. The latter came when her feet were dangling and shaking in the air while selling Rae's boot against the corner. Some open palm slaps to Summer's chest also proved to look nice. On the other hand, Summer showed a bit more wrestling ability, as her finisher specifically accentuated her strengths in the leg department. So, a really good match to put Summer over and build her as a threat to win it all. It's also the most even tourney match so far, and therefore the better of the total three that's aired. 5.) Xavier Woods backstage, talking about his past NXT moments, even naming the episode numbers. Episode 155, episode 157, he beat El Local. His closing line was "It's morphin time!" Awesome! That's a Power Rangers line. After that is his match with Jake Carter. Tom Phillips on commentary explained his inactivity as of late, working on his PhD in psychology. Yeah, this guy's no slouch. Phillips also claimed Woods is trapped in the 90s. He mentioned the guy supposedly winning a Nintendo 64 Goldeneye world tournament, has a TV with no remote, and that you have to physically get up to change the channel and adjust the volume. Woods is supposedly searching for some character from Boy Meets World, a 90s show. Also, the "it's morphin time" is clearly a Power Rangers reference, which came from the 90s! So basically, this guy's a nerd, a 90s nerd I guess. That's what makes him so cool. He is so energetic and charismatic, moreso than what he showed in TNA as Consequences Creed. The match was good, a showcase of the guy's talent. So he's working on a PhD, he's a nerd, charisma that flows in his talk, and talented in the ring. I hope high things for this guy. He made short work of Jake Carter. The hairstyle is awesome too! 6.) Sami Zayn and Renee Young. He talked about the rivalry with Cesaro, and wants a rubber match. Round 3, fight? I hope so. After that is a segment backstage with Sylvester Lefort and his tag team of Garrett Dylan and Scott Dawson. They want a tag team title match, Dusty Rhodes came, impressed with Lefort's accent, and booked a number 1 contenders match for the tag team titles. Lefort is happy, and he told his tag team that he's making his team, money. Just how he said that, in his accent, made me laugh. MONE-AY! Something like that. 7.) Oh my goodness. A little video with Bo Dallas in his car, all smiles and explained that he couldn't be on NXT this week since he's doing WWE live events and media. Yeah right, but he showed proof that he did go to Disney World, a picture confirming that, with him holding the NXT championship. My goodness, "Don't stop BO-lieving." What a goober! His face is goober quality too. Ughh, he looks better when the camera is not so close to him. 8.) I didn't realize this until Tom Phillips mentioned this, but this is the Wyatt Family's first ever 6 man. How Phillips said it, the first time there's no "numbers advantage." Meaning a guy or two that's outside the ring, as part of the Family. This time, all is fair game. So this being their first outing as a trio, the result was positive. The match was pretty good, and I will give one bit of praise for Brad Maddox. See, Phillips was talking about the "heart" of Cory Graves, and Maddox shrugged that, downplayed it and focused on the other side of the coin, and that was the Family cutting the ring in half. The match was good, Graves spent most of his time getting dominated, Neville was the offensive leader of the team, Ohno was in between. On the other side, it was all fine. It ended with Neville's flurry of offense stopping after missing his Red Arrow finish on account of Harper pulling Bray Wyatt out of the way. Bray got the pin and won, and the thing is that the finisher is so high risk, that it makes sense that missing it can cause the guy to be down for the three count. So Wyatt didn't need to do any finisher, and just pin the lifeless body. |
