For some reason, I keep thinking it was one of Del Rio's kicks that caused the concussion.
To be more specific, this one - http://youtu.be/WGmrnPxdXfU?t=59s Methinks Swagger is probably at fault but Del Rio's kicks look genuinely nasty.

I saw this today while eating some rice and chicken. Now, I didn't see the Rise And Fall DVD from WWE, so I can't compare this to that. However, this is of course newer, so it's more important to watch. It was pretty well done, and I think you could tell by how long the opening credits were. So many "associate producers." Anyways, as far as today, Paul Heyman is the most successful. He's got his Heyman Hustle, he's on TV every week, and he's associated with Lesnar and Punk. Next to Heyman is Bob Van Dam, and he's not even on TV right now, not even contracted to any company now. Next is I guess Steve Corino and Rhino, both at least in ROH. It's not perfect, it couldn't be since they probably were unable to get Bob, Taz, Heyman, guys who were or are in the bigger companies. Heyman in particular would've made this documentary. Given that, the perspectives presented are from the wrestlers', the "insiders," and some token fans. I would've popped a little if they got the giant glasses wearing black guy (who was in a lot of WWF shows too), and the long haired dude with the aviator shades. The fan perspective was really interesting, specifically on that big black guy who led the campaign to get ECW on PPV. New Jack was laughably bad. Sounding like a stereotypical black gangsta, but man. The Mass Transit incident was mentioned, and he sure didn't hold himself accountable. Sure the 17 year old in question made the stupid decision, it doesn't help that New Jack was just careless. Even if the guy's credentials and lies were true, the guy's still a rookie in the bloodletting style that typified the company. At best, it would've been a painful baptism by fire. From what I understand, the company folded because Paul Heyman was not a good business man. This documentary specified and clarified, as if to say that Paul just didn't push on and kept the company afloat. They claimed he was getting burnt out creatively in the later years, which made sense. Some theory presented was that TNN used ECW to test the waters and try and jump the shark by making a TV deal with WWF. I never knew Heyman tried to get a deal with USA, but it never materialized. Speaking of Paul, damn did New Jack vilify the guy. Just ask yourself though, who is on TV, and who is not? Maybe since Paul's on "our team," if you know what I mean, there's more respect coming his way for the vision he had and trying to keep the dream alive. On the other hand, the wrestlers though made sure that credit's given to them and the fans. Also, no Tommy Dreamer interview, they passed through the two One Night Stands, didn't go at all into the Mike Awesome story. There was some love for Bubba Ray and basically his ability to incite riots. They didn't go too deep into the stars of the company, names were mentioned, names appeared on the video to do the interview, but eh. No focus on Taz, no focus on Foley, Steve Austin, Jericho, Rey Rey, sort of lumped a lot of those names in the "started in ECW, WCW/WWF raided us" thought. The video's almost 2 hours, and given the missing pieces (no Joey Styles interview, see the names keep on popping in head), there might've been more. However, if they had the necessary resources. So ignore that, it's very interesting to watch and it was enjoyable. I think what I didn't like the most, was just the insiders being interviewed. Mike Johnson I understand, because it's claimed he was pretty involved with the campaign to get them on PPV, he was watching their shows live. The rest? Meltzer was just the least necessary. Just say this and that, nothing really significant. Anyways, ECW was the company that came in the right time, and died, I guess, at the right time. After all, would they have lasted in today's society? Political correctness and sensitivity, "faggot" for example being a more blasphemous word, and Bubba in particular being transplanted from back then to now? It's a good "little engine that could" story. So thanks a lot for this Alan . |

No problem. Glad you enjoyed it.
The Rise and Fall is good from what I can remember. Obviously a lot of stuff was left out since it was a WWE production. The first time I watched it, I was expecting it to be rubbish, but I was surprised. I don't have it handy at the minute, but I'll be able to get it and I will upload it. |

I will say good luck to him. No mean feat climbing mountains. * Just found another documentary I didn't even know was out. It is a non WWE production about the Montreal Screwjob ( The Montreal Theory) because we can never get sick of that. it is a big one 4gb and five hours long ( I think) split into 2 disks. I don't have time to watch it now, but I put the first ten minutes on and I know I'm going to like it. All sorts of wrestling characters giving opinions etc. I will get it all up asap. |

here is disk 1. this is the story explaining everything leading up to the screwjob and the screwjob itself. Disk 2 is their theories about how there is more than meets the eye and maybe it was not a screwjob at all. Disk 2 will be put up in the next 24 hours.

Well now I'll give it a watch since you so kindly posted it, but when I read about it, it was discouraging. Just a conspiracy theory piece that would make heel R-Truth go crazy over spiders and lil Jimmy (goodness I miss that character). It's easy to believe that what was told from WWE and from Shawn and Bret themselves, is true. The one thing that kind of debunks the conspiracy theory is Bret's book. He obviously showed bitterness from the screwjob, and it was that and a bunch of other personal problems that put stress on him and ultimately led to a stroke. How can it be a work, or some conspiracy, if one of the people involved suffered health wise years after the fact?
But I'll see what's said. Thanks again Alan! |
