The US version of Smackdown was pretty much a total waste of time. There was 2 matches(Kofi/Swagger as the main event, Ryback squashing the Colons), Rhodes Scholars+Bellas mocking Tons of Funk and a metric asston of Mania preview crap.

As a follow-up to the Punk video from a page ago (and Ptenisnet's post about Punk wearing that shirt), here's him talking about his thoughts on a variety of things, including why he's wearing a Cesaro shirt (responding to a question that was asked by the World's Strongest Journalist)
And while I'm posting things from Mania weekend, how about a horrible song to get stuck in your head: And in terms of the "smark" conversation from a page ago: I consider myself a smark in that I'm a fan that's smart about the ins & outs of the business, but I don't consider myself a true "smark" because I'm not hugely interested in workrate or psychology or things like that - a lot of my favorites of the past & of today are guys & girls that a lot of "smark" fans frown upon, and they're not guys/girls that I like ironically. I like what I like, even when it goes against the normal "smark" mentality. |

I think the whole smark thing has become a bit too cliquey in recent years. We have things in common generally, but I don't remember reading a rule book on how to be a smark. We like different characters, we have differing levels of hatred for the PG Era and love for the Attitude Era. Still, I think my 'we are addicts' rant from a few months back is pretty accurate.
I think one defining word for the average smark would be 'jaded'. You really see that when a wide-eyed fan shows up in this thread or any wrestling forum out there, and you watch their evolution. They like what they're told to like, they eat everything up, and that pisses some of us off-- perhaps due to jealousy, because we are jaded. We ate from the tree of knowledge and the taste was bitter, but we stick around just waiting for the wrestling we grew up with to come back. That doesn't mean we don't see certain things in the current product that we like, it's just that we're not the faceless fan in the crowd type. Quote:
Punk won that by far. He didn't try to sing when he knew he couldn't, so he just went spoken word. Cody looks like a pubescent teenager hiding a boner at a frat party. |

I just watched Smackdown on youtube and skipped to the bits that weren't Axxess.. I suggest to anyone to do the same.
I didn't come across the Vince big announcement but lets be honest, that was to hook people in to watch the show, I highly doubt it was earth shattering and I can't even find it anywhere ina full show report so idk, who cares.. petererosenberg has a few Mania interviews with: Heyman, Punk, Hornswoggle (meh, who cares), Ziggler (better), AJ (Saints), Brodus (Back to meh) and Ryback (Could be alright) Alot of random crap is about to enter my brain watching these, let it enter yours too Link to his youtube page: http://youtube.com/user/petererosenberg |

I will admit it looks very impressive but for me it takes the fun out of seeing it for the first time when you actually watch the PPV. Anyway thanks for posting that, I can get rid of that nagging thought as to what it was. Anyone see the JBL and Cole show? I watched it for the first time and it wasn't that bad really. Rocks face on the still made me want to watch it so good job WWE.

I might listen to a bit later on. I started listening to the stone cold podcast last night, but I was shattered after a long day and fell asleep. Nothing to do with the quality of the podcast.
I watched that Hogan vs Rock match again on Smackdown. I'm not going to lie, I loved this match. The quality was crap, but like Seven Churches said ' star power' I liked it most because Rock was showed who was still boss in terms of fan reaction. And most of you know, I was a big Hogan mark when I was a kid. Hogan worked the crowd like a master. |
