They showed the cave people to basically live life just as in current times. Using animals to be electricity, plumbing, you name it. Such as the bird that comes out of the remote, flies to turn on the TV. Speaking of the TV, how is that possible? The elephant that functions as a faucet for a sink, those big dinosaurs functioning as construction machines. Such lifestyles show the people back then to be pretty smart. It goes against the caveman smash mentality. Fred Flinstone is the archetype of a flat foot, hard headed, stubborn husband. An archetype visited by Homer Simpson and Peter Griffin, among others. So definitely a classic show, it's too bad Fred Flinstone couldn't hang with the Champ...  Sadly, Fred's time was up, the champ's time is now...  |

Hello and good day to you my friends of PlanetSuzy. A new Monday has reared it's ugly head like a hideous demon from the 9th level of hell. Speaking of demons, that leads us to our theme for this week. PARANORMAL MOVIES! This week you'll see little green & grey men, along with ghosts, demons and monsters. Now these movies will be comedies & horror. So sit back, turn off the lights, or only view this thread at night. Grab a tub of chocolate cookie dough ice cream and enjoy the movies I'll be presenting.
Leading off this week I've picked one of the greatest horror movies of all times. I've seen many top 10 horror movie lists and this film always makes the cut. Today's feature movie is from 1973 The Exorcist! The Exorcist was directed by William Friedkin, adapted by William Peter Blatty from his 1971 novel of the same name. The book, inspired by the 1949 exorcism case of Roland Doe. It tells the chilling tail of a young girl who becomes demonically possessed. The Exorcist was released theatrically in the United States by Warner Bros. on December 26, 1973. The film earned ten Academy Award nominations, winning two (Best Sound Mixing and Best Adapted Screenplay), and losing Best Picture to The Sting. It became one of the highest-grossing films of all time, grossing over $441 million worldwide. It is also the first horror film to be nominated for Best Picture. Paranormal/horror movies aren't my area of expertise. I'm more likely to cite songs that would fit in said movies. So I hope it's okay, because when I think of The Exorcist, I think of this song. Oh and Scary Movie 2 spoofed that movie... |

Today's feature is the 1979 horror classics, Phantasm. The movie was written, directed and Produced by Don Coscarelli. It introduced the Tall Man (Angus Scrimm), a supernatural and malevolent undertaker who turns the dead into dwarf zombies to do his bidding and take over the world.
The film was originally rated X by the MPAA because of the silver sphere sequence involving a man urinating on the floor after falling down dead. After Los Angeles Times film critic Charles Champlin made a telephone call in a favor to a friend on the board, the rating was changed from the (commercially non-viable) X-rating to R. Champlin's positive review was quoted on the film's promotional posters. Phantasm had a budget of $300,000, but it's box office take was $11,988,469. Cast A.
