Anime schedule got pushed back a week for continuing animes because of the problems in Japan.
Hope the folks there get the help they need to get back on track. They are a good hard working people and with luck and the support of the rest of the world they will get back on their feet soon. |

Dragon Ball Z. Back when Cartoon Network was awesome and it had an equally awesome Toonami. They would do a 5-7PM block, every weekday. 6:30PM always aired DBZ for a long time. As time passed, Dragon Ball would then come on Toonami, same block, they moved DBZ a slot, so you would see DBZ, then DB. Toonami then went to only Saturdays for some stupid reason and Dragon Ball GT started making rounds. By that time, they stopped regularly airing DBZ and DB. DB was gone, DBZ was getting "uncut" footage aired in the 10PM hour. I always favored DBZ, it was the longer series of the saga, it had more action. DB was heavy on adventure, and DBGT was heavy on adventure and just felt more animated. Like they pushed limits, going all over space, and then inventing Super Saiyan 4 and more new "indestructible" enemies, and more fusion forms. Jeez, what was it, Gogeta? In DBZ, Goku and Vegeta fusing with earings was so special back then and formed Vegito.
Specifically, DBZ pretty much was best from beginning until the end of the Cell chapters. Majin Buu onwards was great, but not the best. I guess seeing an aging Gohan, new characters in Goten and kid Trunks. I mean the series could've ended on Cell. Since episode one, the show felt like a grand coming of age for Gohan. Once he killed Cell, it was like his potential was finally fulfilled, he became a man (despite being aged 12 I think). He was their Luke Skywalker. For me, moments such as Vegeta vs. Goku in the early episodes, Goku turning Super Saiyan, Gohan showing testicular fortitude against Cell, King Kai, the fucking awesome Ginyu Force, Freeza. Aw man, good times. I have watched their remastered DBZ Kai episodes, but they edited and made it more suited for kids. It used to be TV-Y7, and when the uncut episodes aired, it was TV-PG. DBZ Kai was TV-Y. I have a better time searching and downloading episodes, but I'm not on that interest right now. It was my gateway anime show. Shortly after, I watched Pokemon, Cowboy Bebop, Naruto, Trigun for a bit. None of them had the power of DBZ. I am pretty sure I watched every single DBZ episode. |

Im not a big fan of Anime, unlike my brother, he has 3TB of anime in Japonese, English and Spanish ohh and he makes subs also.
But the ones I did saw and liked: Dragon Ball, DBZ, Captain Tsubasa (Supercampeones in spanish), Sakura Card Captor, Pokemon (does it count as anime?, anyway I stoped watching around the third movie), Digimon (only the first two series), Saint Seyia (Caballeros del Zodiaco in spanish). Probably my favorite was DBZ, but now when I look back, I started watching GT and I like it a whole lot more it has to do with the fact that sometimes animes are soaps, battles between Goku and Freeza took 20 episodes then the training, and then the yelling dialogues, or when Goku's brother (I don't remember his name) is beating the crap out of Goku and then Gohan gets mad, starts yelling and crying. I think Anime gets very emo and soap like, give me something to laugh, that's what I liked about the orginal DB and Gt was a bit of a return to that. Digimon was probably the last anime that had some dramatic stuff into. But know, I can't take it anymore, my brother sometimes gets all excited and comes to me: "Man, you got to see this new Anime or watch this", and then I watch it, and get bored really fast now with Anime. The only mistery that I really want to know is, what's really Captain Tsubasa ending? Does Oliver really looses his legs and it was all a dream, or is it just a urban myth? |
