![]() "Anyone with half a brain knows OSX gets viruses.
I know someone who got a virus on OSX and in the Apple store they couldn't even fix it. They said it would be sent off to be fixed only is she signed something, basically saying not to mention to anyone that OSX had got a virus." True or not true? From this article: http://dailytech.com/Article.asp...1&red=y#672483 I woulnd't put it past Apple to do such a thing |

This thread is for PS members who are Mac users that happen to have been infected by a virus. So far (28 months since the first post on this thread), we have had no such reports. You say you you know "someone who got a virus on OSX": is he or she a member? If yes, get that person to relate their experience here, don't burden us with hearsay.

There was little interest in that topic (3 replies, none indicating experience of viruses except for a PC user who talked about blue screen of death), so over 7 months later I made my second post and asked if any Mac using members had experienced any. This is what this thread is about. You are welcome to post here, but hearsay isn't the best way to contribute: if you haven't experienced it yourself, then post a link to a reliable source detailing the problem: us Mac users will appreciate the heads up on any potential danger, particularly me, since I don't use any form of protection.

![]() An external designer has just popped into the company for a visit and to talk with the Cad guy (we make coffee pots etc) and while we were all talking she suddenly shouted 'pop-ups!'. Huh? She then said that she was suffering from pop-ups ever since a mac type pop-up that looked like her computer appeared stating, "Your computer is infected, click here to clean" She did.
Sure, it probably hasn't caused any damage but she now has constant porn pop-ups. you can change the computer but you can't change the user. ![]() |

We've reached 33 months since I started this thread. In the time elapsed, I haven't contracted any viruses on my Mac despite not installing any protection software. From all the replies in here, not a single one of our members has been infected either. I would have to say that things are looking good as far as Mac viruses are concerned. So to all of you fellow Mac users: keep calm and carry on...
