I live in a hi-rise building (over 140 apartments) with a concierge desk at the ground floor.

I and my neighbours routinely leave unwanted objects (including among other things books, CDs, and DVDs) on the concierge counter for others to take if they want.

I have seen crookery, kitchen appliances (including microwave ovens), lamps, telephones, game systems and much more on that counter.

Here in the UK there are also many charity shops that will take unwanted items so that they may sell them to raise funds for their charity.

Yes, to both you and alexora's response as well. What a cool system, alexora.

The thrift store I mention in the last thing purchased thread also accepts donations. As I have recently bought several long sleeve tshirts, I have been dropping off unwanted items at their donation window on the way in.

I spent a month in Beijing and my big mouth never got me thrown in jail once during that time but granted our movements were heavily monitored and we were in the bubble in the athletes village during the competition and no one was allowed to bring any of their own electronic devices.

Speaking of accomplishments congratulations to Norway for setting a new record at the 2022 Olympics with 16 gold out of 37 medals overall, the record was previously held by Canada with 14 in 2010. (More in sports)

If you're ever given the opportunity to go to China and you can only see one thing go see the Great Wall it is incredible

I agree totally, as they say beauty is in the eye of the beholder. A lot of the tenants in my building have this sense of entitlement and may not have the same level of appreciation as the average person might which is ironic considering I carried the mortgage payments for 12 months for some that were hit hard financially due to Covid. After I posted that about the repro I went back and took another look at it, its the "Les Irisis".

Myself and a group of our Olympic athletes were honored at the Flames/Wild hockey game at the Saddledome in Calgary last night, Calgary is also where our national teams are based out of... having 20,000 people give a standing ovation was another proud moment in a long journey that culminated with Olympic Gold for our ladies national hockey team in Beijing, but nothing will ever top the emotions while standing on the ice as the national anthem played as our flag was hoisted.

My nation is one of a select few who achieves greatness in both the summer and winter Olympics, this time we didn't do too badly in terms of medals.
