OMG!!!! I didn't know about Neil. This absolutely breaks my heart. There aren't a whole lot of musicians or artists whose death would move me to tears, but this is definitely one of them. Rush is one of those bands I thought would be around forever, and even though they were retired, I still had hope that they would record one more album.

1981: I turned 14 at the beginning of that summer. My aunt gave me Rush's Moving Pictures. That was the soundtrack to my summer of '81. When my parents would leave the house I would crank that album; with one eye on the driveway for their return. What an album!

They played that album live in its entirety on the Time Machine Tour (Blu Ray). What a treat to see that album live and sounding better than the album!

Neil's passing has affected me very deeply so much so that I cried when I read the news. Rush has been my number one progressive rock band since I was fourteen.

Edd Byrnes, star of the 1950s and ’60s TV hit “77 Sunset Strip” who went on to co-star in the 1978 smash “Grease,” has died, the actor’s son, Logan Byrnes, confirmed Thursday via Facebook. He was 87.

Byrnes died at his home in Santa Monica, according to Logan Byrnes, who is a
news anchor for KUSI-TV San Diego.

Byrnes became a comedic sensation as the co-star of the ABC detective drama “77 Sunset Strip,” starring Efrem Zimbalist Jr. as a hip L.A. private detective. Byrnes played Kookie, the parking lot attendant with a habit of running his comb through his slick hair. His character, Gerald Kookson III, introduced a host of early ’60s slang into mainstream primetime culture.

The series was among a slew of slick action-dramas that the fledgling Warner
Bros. Television division produced for the Big Three networks in the late 1950s
and early ’60s.

The Kookie character took on more fame when Byrnes teamed with Connie Stevens on a novelty record — “Kookie, Kookie (Lend Me Your Comb)” — for the then-newly formed Warner Bros. Records, that climbed the charts in 1959. Byrnes also appeared as Kookie in crossover episodes with fellow Warner Bros. / ABC dramas “Hawaiian Eye” and “Surfside 6.” Stevens was a co-star of “Hawaiian Eye.”

Canada Probe Finds ‘Deadpool 2′ Producers’ Safety Law Violations Contributed To Death Of Stuntwoman Joi Harris

The Canadian safety organization that investigated*a fatal 2017 motorcycle stunt crash*on the set of*Deadpool 2*has concluded the film’s production company violated numerous safety regulations, including “Instructing the stunt performer not to wear safety headgear while operating the motorcycle.”

Joi Harris, who was performing her first movie stunt, was killed on the film’s set in Vancouver in August 2017 when she was ejected from the motorcycle she was operating and crashed through the window of a nearby building.

WorkSafeBC, British Columbia’s version of the U.S. government’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration, also found that the film’s production company, TCF Vancouver Productions Ltd., “Failed to ensure that the workplace was designed with safety controls in place so that the stunt performer or the motorcycle could not proceed beyond the perimeter of the film set. Barriers were absent that should have prevented the stunt performer and motorcycle from leaving the set perimeter.”

Jim Lehrer, understated PBS news anchor and presidential debate moderator, dies at 85

Jim Lehrer, an understated television newscaster who co-founded what is now “The PBS NewsHour,” which he anchored for 36 years, and who was dubbed the “dean of moderators” for presiding over 12 presidential debates, died Jan. 23 at his home in Washington. He was 85.

PBS announced his death but did not provide further details. He had a heart attack in 1983 and heart valve surgery in 2008.

Mr. Lehrer began his career as a newspaper reporter in Texas before switching to broadcast journalism in the early 1970s. He came to Washington in 1972, quitting his first job over budget cuts at the fledgling Public Broadcasting Service.

After moving to WETA-TV, based in Arlington, Va., he began covering the Watergate hearings in 1973 with fellow reporter Robert MacNeil.

In 1975, they teamed up to launch “The MacNeil/Lehrer Report,” a 30-minute broadcast that initially focused on a single topic each night.

The two anchors offered contrasting styles: The Canadian-born MacNeil, a onetime correspondent with NBC and BBC, had an air of urbanity, with a distinguished Mid-Atlantic accent. Mr. Lehrer, by contrast, had a windblown voice with echoes of his Kansas and Texas upbringing, and he never lost the laconic, slightly rumpled manner of the newspaper city editor he had once been.

“He did a great deal to improve my interview style,” MacNeil said of Mr. Lehrer in 1986. “I painfully learned from Lehrer that some of the most effective questions are ‘Why?,’ ‘I don’t understand,’ and ‘Could you say that again?’ His informality has eased me up a lot.”

“MacNeil/Lehrer” presented a sober approach to the news, often with experts debating complex issues in great detail. MacNeil and Mr. Lehrer were probing without being provocative. They were sometimes criticized for being bland.

Kirk Douglas, Hollywood legend, dies at 103

He managed to survive a fatal helicopter crash in 1991 but couldn't outrun old age. Mr Douglas had a great and long life.
