If you want to belive or not but even my GF which is a PC nerd uses the ubuntu without any kind of problems. Great support for ubuntu! |

Since my previous post #58 I've settled for Mint 17 KDE (LTS) which comes out at the end of May 2014.
So, that's me sorted for the next five years which is when the next Long Term Support edition is released. |

Ubuntu 14.04
I have been trying out ubuntu 14.04 since xp "xpired" and I am impressed with it running on a 2005 Dell inspiron 9200, core 2 E6400, Ati x1300, 1GB. It runs faster than xp did but I frequently have restart to run firefox it's as if it crashes when I exit ff then can't launch. I will report back if I find out more, also if anybody can help that would be appreciated.

adams family Raspberry pi is on youtube somewhere. too much code for me but I guess if you want less boards in the back (thats the good part) that would help save some of the dying pinball games. but bought a used $13 60 gb hard drive off ebay stuck xubuntu on it and runs fine on the Dell. just hoping I can find a wireless dongle that'll work. just haven't had time to try it. and it's really cheaply made.

(mostly around a new central a/c and new insulation (god is it muggy up there now. doubt thats a good sign) but I ain't telling dad. he hates bad news (Edit 7-13-2014) yes that dongle works. at least with ubuntu. didn't even need the driver. bit iffy but works for me. probably could do with a better built one though..
