When posts are removed without some type of notification, the poster doesn't even know they had a post removed unless they go back looking for it. I certainly don't want to make more work for moderators, I'm just saying that it doesn't allow the posters to be aware that they crossed a discussion line in the first place.

Most everyone knows what they are posting and how it will be recieved but there are some subjects that are less clear, for example, the Police Brutality thread. Posts were removed and then added back later.

I don't expect post removal notifications to be done but it would help folks to know which posts were removed and they can use that as a reference for what they are allowed to post. The moderators don't need to explain anything as I expressed in my previous post.

I agree with both of your points. I brought it up not because I need to know when and why I crossed whatever line while posting. I had just been going through an old thread I just KNOW I posted in. It was just a mundane throw-away comment, but there is no sign of it. I usually know when I am being a dick or whatever and I will or will not learn my lesson regardless. It is when something is just *poof* gone like it was never there. I really like the automated idea, but understand the improbability of such a system.

Moderators have enough to do just to keep the ship afloat, so I would never expect an explanation engraved in gold. I get those when the infraction notice comes.

I've asked the same "?", and made the same suggestions, since longer than either of you have been here. Now I could have stated my last post in my "own words" ... but that would have been NO fun. My statement is a collaboration of what has been said back to me by MODS each and every time I asked that "?". Trust me on this. I'm not making it up.

I do see your point, and I genuinely wish that there was some way to accomplish it.

I could spend ages writing a serious of reasons for this, but it boils down to one simple thing:

The Moderation Staff are all volunteers, who only have a limited amount of time to do what needs to be done. I will only give my personal experience of this, as I do not wish to make assumptions for other mods. I will not send notifications to all members about every single error I find, it rather depends on what kind of problem it is, how long the member's been here, whether I think they should already know better but have made a silly slip up.

Other times I may think I have sent a Private Message and somewhere along the line, I'll have accidentally closed the page it was in, forgotten to send it, or in one instance recently - I "quoted the post" rather than "quoted this post in a PM" and left it in my "Dead Thread".

I'm sorry, I am not, and I assume this applies to the other mods as well, "perfect".

I presume that's why this rule exists as a "catch-all".

15. We may move, remove, merge or edit your posts without notice, in our sole discretion. When threads are cleaned don't be surprised if your comments disappear. Disregarding any rule will result in deletion of threads, warnings and/or bannings.

All I can suggest, is that if you are that concerned that a post of yours has gone missing, ask a section moderator. There may be a genuine reason that you we're not told about, it's also possible that it was removed in error.

As for the "Police Brutality" thread, that was probably me, being on the safe side until I could talk to the section moderators. How DoctorNo copes with some of the stuff in General Discussion without becoming paranoid eludes me.
