Damn, already UFC 185 this Saturday. I remember back in the day waiting for what seemed like a year for the next one. I don't think it was ever more than around 6 months though. Now we get 2 within a month.

Lookin forward to seeing Esparza fight again, and Her TUF coach is the main event. I guess co-main.

The first UFC event I got to see was UFC 1 sometime around 2005. It was on an old VHS tape left behind by a rogue tenant in a property I was letting. Couldn't believe it as I watched a relatively puny looking Royce Gracie overcame guys who looked like beasts. After that there was a period around 2008 when I got to see some re-runs of Canadian TKO and UK Cage Rage. I didn't get regular UFC until about 2 years ago.

As you say it is almost too much of a good thing. Sometimes it's hard to keep up.

Esparza is good but I don't like her personality. There was some quite nasty bitching by some of the women in her TUF season, and she was up there leading the pack IMO. Don't know much about Jedrzejczyk except that her stats look reasonably good. Should be interesting.

Pettis will get the job done over Dos Anjos I think.

Hendricks v Brown I think is the most interesting fight on the card. Despite what Hendricks did to GSP, I've never been convinced he has what it takes to be a long term title holder. So it will be interesting to see how he does.

I saw UFC 1 live on pay-per-view for free. I had a buddy that could tweak something on his old push button cable box, and he could get everything free. I still don't know how he did it and I don't really care , watched a ton of free wrestling events at his place, boxing too.

I tried to blocked out all that cat fighting shit, wasn't easy. When it got down to the two finalists I wanted Namajunas to win it all. Torres was my overall favorite. I had pretty much washed my hands of all the women who wanted to bitch.

It's not that I like Esparza particularly, just more of the unknown for me in that fight with Jędrzejczyk.

The next TUF season will feature a Gym v Gym format - American Top Team vs. Blackzilians. Should be interesting.

This season of The Ultimate Fighter will premiere on FOX Sports 1 on Wednesday, April 22 at 10 p.m. ET
Las Vegas, Nev. – Coming off a historic season that saw the crowning of the UFC’s first-ever women’s strawweight champion, the next installment of The Ultimate Fighter® looks to raise the stakes once again. For the first time in the show’s 10-year history, a gym versus gym format will be introduced pitting fighters from the famed American Top Team against those from Blackzilians, all while living together under one roof in South Florida.

It will be a monumental season, as $500,000, the first-ever The Ultimate Fighter Team Trophy and most importantly, ultimate bragging rights, are all up for grabs. The decisions and strategy determined by each team have never impacted the show as much as they will this season.

This season of The Ultimate Fighter®: American Top Team vs. Blackzilians premieres with a two-hour episode Wednesday, April 22, at 10 p.m. ET on FOX Sports 1 and will continue with 11 more one-hour shows Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET. This is the fifth season of The Ultimate Fighter to air on FOX Sports 1. The series is the network’s highest rated and most watched original program since the network’s inception in August 2013.

There’s no shortage of bad blood between these two camps. In 2001, the famed American Top Team gym was founded in Coconut Creek, Fla. by Dan Lambert. The gym has since been home to numerous champions and top contenders including current UFC welterweight champion Robbie Lawler, former title challengers Thiago Alves and Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva, former WEC® featherweight champ Mike Brown, Hector Lombard, Tyron Woodley and Dustin Poirier. However, in 2011 several members defected to start their own camp, the Blackzilians. Partnering with successful businessman Glenn Robinson, the fighters started their own training facility only 20 minutes away in Boca Raton, Fla., beginning one of the deepest rivalries in all of MMA. The Blackzilians camp is now home to former UFC light heavyweight champions Rashad Evans and Vitor Belfort, as well as top contenders Anthony Johnson, Eddie Alvarez, Michael Johnson and Matt Mitrione.

This season features eight rising welterweights from each team who will be selected by their respective gym owner to live in a South Florida house alongside their competition. The fighters will continue to train at their home gym with their own coaches and sparring partners. However, fights will no longer be held at a neutral site and now move to the teams’ respective gyms, always leaving one fighter to compete in enemy territory. Adding to the anticipation ahead of each bout, opponents won’t be known until the weigh-in. The culmination of the season will see two fighters meet at The Ultimate Fighter Finale in summer 2015, where the winning gym will be crowned.

Even though I'm Irish I'm supporting Aldo. McGregor is a dick - a good fighter but a dick nevertheless. While he has a huge fan base in Ireland, more and more people here are finding his antics an embarrassment. Hope Aldo is up to kicking his butt.

Man, I'm Brazilian and I dislike Aldo, but he is a god here, over him, only Anderson Silva. He was a very poor guy in his childhood and the brazilians love this kind of person, a "winner of life". About McGregor, we hate this kind, like Sonnen. Until now, I didnt see he talking about brazilians like Chael, and Aldo gonna kill if he says something. lol

To me, the difference between McGregor and Chael is that Chael does it for promotion like Muhammad Ali and Floyd Mayweather. McGregor is more like Adrian Broner to me. I don't remmeber WEC era Chael talking. He was tagged with being a boring fighter and started using pro wrestling interviews. His line "beat me if you can" was lifted straight from a wrestler from the Portland, Oregon territory. Ali got the idea of self promotion and character from Gorgeous George, a professional wrestler he grew up watching. Floyd more than likely got the idea from Ali.


I hope McGregor wins. I like Aldo, but I like to hate McGregor more. Seeing cocky guys lose is great, but them losing when they're at the top is better.
