It's more like Collision was created to separate the professionals from the trash. Dynamite can stay a clown show where green talent take bad advice from The Young Bucks while Collision has the true talent on an actual wrestling show.
I hate AEW, but I always give new shows a chance. If Tony Khlown is still doing his nonsensical booking where hot wrestlers disappear for months at a time, I'm out. |

The show was made for Punk, mid 40s & injury prone lol. I mean, come on, ffs. Miro will end up owning it, then eventually it'll be the Bucks show too and will get canceled. Enjoy the time you get to see Punk as he'll be injured again. Personally I think the name of the show was a pretty poor choice given the Briscoe tragedy at the start of the year which they pretend to care about. I only think that because they've made Mark look like a chump collecting pity pay. They still pity paying that fat useless fuck Luther too? They manage to keep a lot under wraps there and I can't be assed to go check these things. Tony with his announcements every week. The shows are a fucking meme these days.
Dream match city is coming up though. I don't give a shit about NJPW but oh well Okada and Bryan should be good. But that's it. They've hit the don't have to build anything that WWE used to do. Dave the Lizard will be handing out 6 stars and all that. It's so predictable. I wish one of these fucking matches would do old school wrestling only instead of the flips and such. To see/hear the reaction would probably be fucking hilarious. |

enjoyed the Magnum ep of Dark Side, maybe since it has (for this show) a positive ending.
weird they skipped the Tully feud and the i quit match. maybe since they didnt interview him but had interviewed Nikita for this and Tales. |

I was completely shocked that they didn't mention the I Quit match at all...that match basically made both their careers.

Would've like to have seen a couple minutes dedicated to the Wrestling II feud in Mid-South, as well as the initial title chase in Mid-Atlantic (with Wahoo McDaniel & the US title)... and, yes, the Tully feud is a necessary part of any show dedicated to Magnum's career. As far as Tully not being part of the episode, Magnum married Tully's ex-wife, so even though it took Tully a couple decades to come to terms with it, there still may be residual heat between the two, I'm guessing. |

But what's scary, which PWInsider has some good articles on (and Jim Cornette's podcast points out), is that ticket sales aren't very good, and, the tour routing (including two separate trips to Chicago within a week) is ill-conceived. |

I agree that it can look like a reject farm or whatever, but the promo materials make it pretty darn clear Collison is the CM Punk show. Which I think is partially network mandated but also TK not wanting to cut bait on Punk, hoping that time has helped heal wounds.
But the ticket numbers clearly show that those wounds have not healed, at least not yet. Obviously the first show is in Chicago to try and replicate 'The First Dance', which I expect will be a loud reaction but nothing like 2 years ago(can give feedback on that in a week if desired). Maybe Punk's got some god-tier promo in his pocket that'll draw people back in for later shows(and more importantly as TV viewers) but I'll believe it when I hear it. For me, from the big picture view, Collision needs to have better numbers than Dynamite this week because this is almost certainly the high point of the numbers. In future weeks, the closer to Dynamite it is the better, main question being how much it gets gutted once football season starts. The only thing I could see in the future that might 'pop a number' would be a Mercedes Mone/Sasha Banks debut, which if she wasn't injured could have totally happened this week to setup a Forbidden Door match and been an epic moment. |

So they are still in Chicago for the next Dynamite and Punk won't be there? I imagine they will ask the crowd beforehand not to chant his name? Like that'll happen. This is so f'n dumb.
As for the show, gay Tony got his fave gay artist. As a theme, fairly hard sell for me on first impression, but I guess it'll just be another song before long. Presentation is exactly what I thought. Only a different name, look, those the elite rejected talent but Tony didn't, and the ones that are fine with the elite but also fine with Punk. At least the commentary is new but gee give that ROH team a f'n try. Nobody is watching that shit. I feel bad for them. Just accept you bought a tape library and be done with it already. Nigel sounds like he should be calling darts not wrestling but at least he's not as useless as Schiavone is. |
