Oh, it was a derby alright.
At least in their last couple of matches on official competitions. Like the semifinal in Germany which the hosts lost 0-2. And lets not forget the semifinal in Italy which the Germans won on penalties. They have always had incredible matches. If that is not a derby, I dont know what is. |

I was serving in the Italian Army when Italy beat West Germany in 1982 by 3-1, winning the World Cup for the third time.
After each Italian goal, the base's Public Address system played the national anthem! Lets just say that Italy v Germany is a European derby, and leave it at that... In any case, the Germans are formidable opponents and this upcoming game is impossible to predict: either side could win.

I was in Italy sometime in the late '90s, and I remember the Azzurri were playing, and the country came to a stop. Its impressive, and as national competitive enterprises go, much preferred to traditional forms of international mayhem. |

Wales teached a lesson to Belgium about the importance of speed in football. After the first goal of the game, Belgium let have the control of the ball to Wales and Wales used it with calm, a little bit slow and Belgium started to lose its own tempo. Tempo is a very important thing in football because if you play to the tempo of your opponent, you are in trouble even if your team is strong.
Well, it was pleasant to see, Wales was very clever. Congratulations. |

Well I MUST BE PSYCHIC!
Didnt quite believe it myself but 4 superb goals in a great game of football. I had 2-1 Wales at 25-1 with a tenner on it but I have never been more delighted to lose £260 than when that 3rd one went in! AWESOME NIGHT! Here's to the little guys and lets hope for a Wales -Iceland final!
