When I was a kid calling someone "thick" meant they were stupid. It was a contraction of "thick headed". Calling a woman's body thick is the modern equivalent of saying she's "broad in the beam". It's an unflattering and gutless way of saying she's fat and pretending it's sexy to get away with it.
